Max is getting neutered on Friday (shhh, don't tell him though!!) and it's going to cost nearly £60:eek:
Is this about the norm for a bunny round the country? Am not sure what I thought it was going to be but I didn't think it would be this much...apparantly it can be quite an complicated op hence the price.
Ah well....can't be helped:D

it was so longa ago when i had a rabit that i can;t remeber...but Double's op turned out to be very complicated as one of his doo-dahs was in the wrong place (too high inside him) and had to be scooped out
sending your bunny lots of healing vibes0 -
I could be wrong but it sounds about right, when I looked into getting my female bunny "done" I was quoted around £70.
I think its because they are smaller than your average cat or dog so its probably harder to get at the relevant bits!! The other thing is I think that small animals are affected by the anaethestic more than larger ones so its harder to get the dosage right. A lot more can go wrong anaesthic wise (not to worry you!) with small animals, I think thats why a lot of vets are reluctant to operate on them.0 -
My boy bunny was £83, that's the op then two follow up visits.0

Jeezo I never even factored in the follow up visits...I assumed they would be free if it was just a quick check of errr...the area.:rotfl: :rotfl:
Ah well, if it makes him a bit more docile and not have thoughts of girl bunnies then so be it
(Loopy goes muttering away that next time daughter asks for a pet, she's getting a goldfish!!!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: )0 -

When the nurse whipped him over to have a look and see how he had grown, he sooked them up his body and she said that they can go as far as their kidneys:eek: and then showed me on his wee body roughly where it was...as he is teeny then it was literally half way up his body...
Thanks for the vibes...have to admit that I am going to be a bag of nerves. As Notsosharp says, they are so small and things can go wrong (note to self to stop watching Animal Rescue!!).:o

I'm sure they'll be included in the price but double check!!
Our rabbit is far more chilled out now and less destructive so we've saved money in cable replacements in the long run!!0 -
Good luck bunny
Have a read of this, if you have got a good rabbit vet (there is a lot that aren't still, it will be a routine op).
Have a read of this, and you have time still to ask the right questions, we had to change vets twice, our local vets were rubbish with rabbits.

He's an outdoor bunny so no cables to destroy!! Am mainly doing it so that my daughter (7 next month) can get alot more handling and I can start to teach her how to lift him herself (supervised obviously). I have 'broke' him in if you like with the handling but I know she would like to go out herself and give him a cuddle and just now he's not so keen...it upsets her though cos I pick him up and he cuddles right in to me like a baby and falls asleep and snores!!! bless0 -
females are more expensive to do, than males...
most we've paid is £40, but we know that other vets in the area charge £65 inc. check-up afterwards - hmmm. What goes around - comes around
give lots and you will always recieve lots0 -
£32 Manchester area for a male, £70 for a female0
