Co-op was always recommended as a last resort ...

There is normally a reason why they will decline for this - have you been given a reason? Have you asked?

You may need to check your credit file to make sure that there has been no fraud flag placed on it.

    You can split the facilities
    1. Essential Bill 2. Other Bills
    1. Yorkshire building society - Recommended by someone in the forum so I tried - offered account immediately and card arrived within days.
I asked for a Basic Cash Card account also does DD and SO
You can also get full current account if your credit allows.

    2. Get a top up mastercard for all debit and credit card transactions IDT is the easiest to join but Clearcash acts as a secondary bank account with card - its really good with budget tools etc.

RBS Key Acc is good and reports as full acc on your file.

U now get a visa debit card instead of solo and can do online banking and d/d etc I had one for a while after defaulting on my natwest acc.

Or more basic is easy cash from halifax.

But if u can't get a coop cash minder I am told u must have fraud or bankrupt on yr file in which case I dont think any high street will touch u and only the post office can help with a cash card acc.

Barclays are BR friendly for their basic account, so they may be worth a try? Comes with a Visa debit card.
