Both major cable operators do reasonble deals when you start bunching their services together.

    Look at:

Be wary of NTL; I'm with them (broadband/TV/phone), and they told me on the phone on Saturday that come January/February they won't be offering 1Mb, 2Mb and 3Mb rates. Everyone will move up to 10Mb and be charged £37.99/month. Have a look at Tiscali, Bulldog and Wanadoo; I think you'd need a BT phone line for all of them but I'm not entirely sure.

The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

    I doubt that's true because:

    (a) they would be unable to enforce contracts against current subscribers and

    (b) 99% of their customers would immediately switch to a competitor. They would go ITV Digital's way within six months.

I hope you're right, but that's what the guy in Package Changes told me. I'm already planning my departure!

try the zazizam standard 2mb package - it will be £11.99 a month for you, and their call rates are slightly less than BTs standard rates

I reckon you will be better off going for BT Option 1 with CPS to OneTel or JustDial or some other free deal with free weekend or offpeak calls. Then purchasing a low cost broadband account.

I use BT Option 1, Just-Dial for evening/weekend calls. Call1899 for daytime and international calls (though we've recently started using 18185 for international calls and mobiles). Freedom 2 Surf for internet access (2Mbit connection with 2 meg monthly transfer limit - more than enough unless you are going to use it all the time and for intensive things like audio, video, games)
    BT Option 1 is 10.50
Just-Dial is free with free eve/weekend calls
    Call1899 3p per call (UK)
Call 18185 cheapest for mobiles and the international destinations we mainly call, but if that is too many accts to deal with 1899 is fine.
Freedom 2 Surf £14.99 per month. There is a connection charge if new to broadband, but otherwise free to join. If you don't have broadband yet may be better off with an inclusive deal - see Martin's cheapest Broadband article.

I use them, and so do several of my friends, and relations - I haven't heard any complaints, which is good, as I myself have used them for 18 months now, with no problems. It is also a 3 month contract, so you're not tied down for a year, like the well known providers do
