Hello all, we've had a letter from Anglian Water offereing us insurance on the pipes within the boundaries of our property. It says that if there was a leak, we'd have to pay to have it repaired, but they'll insure it for something like twenty quid a year. Is this worth having? Has anyone ever had to use it?
Many thanks

The letter is not from AW its from an insurance company0

We've had these as well - they need reading carefully, but on doing so offer nothing that isn't already included in most building insurance anyway. They are *not* from anglian water! When I spoke to Anglian today, they insist that they haven't sold the mailing list, so where the details have come from who knows?

As there is no competition for water everyone in a specific area is supplied by the same water company. You will probably find your local Council has been selling the Electoral Register.0 -
Anglian Water Direct who offer the insurance are a high street insurer who Anglian endorse so in return they use their name. They do get their details from Anglian Water as of this year. Anglian certainly do offer a one off goodwill repair on the supply pipe (pipe from meter to point of entry) but cannot help if it is underneath the property or a structure & can take them up to 3 weeks to do the repair & they don't reinstate the hole they have dug, it is just backfilled. So if you want it done sooner & reinstating then I would say go for the insurance.......:grinheart I'm getting there...... slowly but surely0
