    On a similar theme.

I cut myself shaving and have blood splatters all over my walls, ceiling and a huge blood trail leading from my room, down the stairs and into my car boot. Does anyone know of a way that I can clean it up and destroy any DNA might also be in the car boot carpets?

I need to get things cleaned up as soon as possible as i'm expecting a visit very soon.

    Cheers

Hmmm, I wouldn't use bleach, that always seems to react to the fancy squirty sprays and funny coloured lights.
Shame it's your blood or you could have blamed it on energetic bungee jumping sex.

  • Sorry if this is in the wrong place...

my teenage daughter had a massive nose bleed one night and some blood soaked through to her new mattress :(. She did try to clean it up herself by sponging it out, but has made an even bigger mess!

Has anyone got any tips for cleaning the mattress? It is a memory foam mattress (doesn't have removable cover) which is only about 8 weeks old, so I would really like to clean it up as best as I can, because its got to last for quite a few years yet!!!

I would like to clean it as cheaply and be as envirommentaly friendly as I can.

    Thanks.

Use cold water only - warm / hot will set the stain.

In our army days we had off white mattresses supplied which had to be given back as clean as they were taken, as a 14 year old I had a tooth extracted and it bled heavily for 48 hours, and onto the mattress. My mum got all of the stain out by using a small amount of white vinegar and covering the stain with talcum powder which absorbed the blood. It took a while, but the mattress came up good as new, she left a towel over it for a few days and then hoovered the talc and the stain came away.

Whatever you do don't soak the mattress. Being memory foam it will take forever to dry.
