anyone added it all up?

I've saved a packet this year thanks to MSE :T

However, I've always wondered what I've actually saved in a year. How much have I saved with BOGOFs, offers, sales etc....

Has anyone every counted every penny??

I've added up the more obvious things like Quidco, Bingo wins, PPI claim but not the full amount.

So, I've decided that next year I want to do a total save challenge, can I really add up ALL my savings. I'm quite well organised but I'm sure it'll be a task. Most stores do list your savings on till receipts so that'll make things a bit easier.

I just wondered if someone had done this...

I counted everything for one month in August 2008 when I started all this. It came to over £500! There was no need to count anymore, I was committed.

I saved £145 this month for one phone call, when the renewal for the house insurance came in. I rang Direct Line and said, "I can get it cheaper with someone else" and they knocked the money off the bill.

I did this religiously in 2007. (My savings diary thread is HERE complete with grand total at the end! :j

I planned to keep a running record this year too, but wasn't so diligent about keeping it updated this year. I will start again in 2009 with renewed commitment and motivation so we can be in it together! :T

this sounds like a great idea. I think I'll give it a go for January next year and if I can keep up commit to the whole year.
