frivolous fay - how did you go about the organ and tissue donation ? It's something I'd quite like to do but haven't a clue where to start.
Like the idea of cardboard or wicker coffins........anything that makes the whole job cheaper of those left to deal with it, plus better for the environment.
    Thanks OP for this.

  • I've been thinking about this today too. I'm planning a gold ecopod,
http://www.ecopod.co.uk/ They look so cool. I'm also considering buying a plot in advance from here http://www.memorialwoodlands.com/, but that depends on what OH wants to do. I'm only 32, but quite like the idea of having it all sorted, just in case. I'd also like my tree to be mature and strong when I'm buried, rather than a weedy sapling. They have eco pre-payment plans and seem quite flexible with add-ons etc, including carbon offsetting. I don't know how their prices compare to other companies.

There's a list of natural burial grounds here, http://www.anbg.co.uk/members.html

I'm also planning to leave a set of instructions about the funeral/wake (fervent atheist - no religious service for me!, also want everyone to have a slap-up meal in my favourite restaurant rather than carpy and expensive buffet).

Thanks fay - typical that there's not a woodland burial site near me.........have to discuss with OH where the best place would be.
I've already got an organ donor card and did wonder about donating whatevers left to a teaching hospital...............doctors have to learn somehow dont they. Have to think on that one if I can get OH to sit down and talk about it.
He always tries to avoid it but its something that we both really ought to do.

Mary, I thought about the medical science thing too, but apparantly you have to pass fairly rigorous tests first, they dont take just anyone.
