Laptop / Notebook - whats the difference
Comments
-
Notebooks are designed by nature to be light and easy to transport as they are designed for business users. As a result they tend to favour long life and lightness over speed and features. However if all you need to do is to do light DVD watching and office type stuff with a bit of web you'll be fine. Generally speaking the screen will be smaller, around 12.1 inches.
In terms of adding extras, most are easy enough, however the new sup slims are a right pain as they require the entire rear fascia to be removed.0 -
Nah, really, these days, there isn't really a single definition that everyone follows that tells you the difference between the two. As above a notebook was traditionally the size of, um, a notebook, whereas a laptop could simply sit on your lap rather than a desk, but don't discount something described as either these days as you probably couldn't tell the difference between 2 sitting beside each other. They really are only names. The widescreen comment above is definately wrong tho...0

As almillar says, I believe the term "notebook" was introduced to imply a more lightweight, portable type of laptop. There's no legal distinction between "laptop" and "notebook" (as far as I know), and they are generally used interchangeably.0
