Basically as the title suggests... what is the difference???
Done some hunting on line and it's kinda inconclusive. Some say no difference, others say loads.
trying to decide whether to buy a laptop/notebook but wanting as much info first.
Help is always good to receive

Note books are lighter/smaller. Also they may use a docking station for things like cd/dvd and external connections0

can you play games and watch dvds etc on notebooks also???0

Assuming the laptop/notebook is powerful enough / has a good enough graphics card for the games, and has a DVD drive, then yes.
Note that quite a lot of retailers use the terms interchangably when they really shouldn't. The best thing to do is make sure the laptop/notebook has everything you want and is of a size, weight and battery capacity you're happy with. Then it doesn't matter what it's called.Russia is HERE0 -
My understanding has always been they're different names for the same thing.

With a dvd player and a fast processor and graphics card, but they are small screens not widescreen and lower capacity batteries0

cheers all
trouble is knowing what I want and the price. Been suggested I want at least 2GB RAM whatever I go for0 -
You can always instal more RAM yourself, so that's not such a big issue when it comes to purchasing.0

Many laptops have the RAM under the battery, so it's very easy to change; much easier than a lot of desktops in fact.0

I have a compaq Laptop and both ram boards were filled ones underneath the keyboard (nightmare to get to) and another under a removable plastic plate underneath the laptop. Like I say I removed the bottom place and found a stick of RAM which was disappointing as I was hoping it was empty as its described as the RAM expansion board."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"
