I constantly make mistakes between lose and loose... doesn't make me stupid.
Im a MEng Engineer in Control Theory... I deal with Matrices the size you never saw in school (27x27), I deal with complex feedback systems.... yet my english skills aren't up to that much
Just like to say having perfect english doesn't make you intelligent.. it just gives the impression of intellect. A lot of rich children who have perfect english and literacy skills have no comprehension of most fundamental things in life because they don't need to.
Flip side of the coin for yer!
All very well but lets not forget that lose is a simple 4 letter word;)
I would disagree about your stupidity, from now on for the rest of your life, this thread should stick in your mind so if in future you spell lose as loose, surely then you should be classed as stupid?? I.e how many times do you need telling in order for it to sink in? That generally defines stupidity;)
Do people not read loose as loose? If so, how can the word lose be the same as loose? 1 version you have lost something, the other being you've let something loose or you are slackening something. 2 totally different words, so how can they be confused Surely when reading it back you read loose as in slackening, not loose as in i've lost something? Surely when reading it back you read loose as in slackening, not loose as in i've lost something?
Sorry, but when you think about it, it is stupidity;)0

Perhaps people will finally realise that we are in the Sxxt !! It will take a long time to recover from this, house prices will fall by 30% plus, unemployment will sky-rocket.. quite possibly we will enter a depression, we are already in a Recession, there will almost certainly be riots on the streets of u.k towns as social tensions come to the boil !! ... but on a positive note, I will be here to cheer you all up :T
Brilliant news will keep the usual suspects in clover.Think of all the cheap houses, the vultures are circling.Official MR B fan club, dont go............................0

Am I the only one to find this thread a testament to the worst aspects of this forum?
A major piece of news - as we all stare into the potential abyss as our economy crashes...and discussion revolves around a typo?
!!!!!! - threads like this make me wonder if there is any point reading/posting here - if this post does not merit a serious response I don't know what does.0

            you're a looser
A looser what? No relation to Lucy Lastic I hope......:rotfl:
My dh - a lovely chap - is a brilliant engineer, travels the world for his firm - is a bad speller. It is impossible to play scrabble with him, it drives me mad, the last time he spelt very 'verry' - bless !:D
And !!!!!!, I so agree, I heard yesterday that sales of organic produce has fallen. I've discovered the 'umble bean - if anyone remembers my wrongly placed bean thread. I dont have to worry if they were raised in a cruel way - something which does bother me.0

In light of developing events - are you still going to buy that house? Have the happenings in the economy changed your perspective?--
Every pound less borrowed (to buy a house) is more than two pounds less to repay and more than three pounds less to earn, over the course of a typical mortgage.0

And of the two threads of discussion going on here, carolt, which one did you choose to reply to?Am I the only one to find this thread a testament to the worst aspects of this forum?

You got anything to say yourself about people losing their jobs?
 Reckless bankers - good.
 Joe public - bad.
That's all I or anyone else has to say on the matter I imagine.
I have no sympathy for these bankers losing their jobs. Absolutely none whatsoever. They made huge amounts of money, pocketed it all, lived a lifestyle that's the extreme opposite of what we're all going to be living for the best part of the next decade and they show no or little remorse or accountability for their actions.
As Aristotle, the famous philosopher, once said: "It's tough !!!!!!"
They took huge risks and lost. That'll learn them.
Sorry - teach! I meant teach...!!!!
As for the rest of us: I wish everyone, their families and friends well over the coming months and years because it's not going to be pleasant for any of us - some worse than others.0
