I got the Auto Clay through with the Auto Balm to follow, I've read the instructions for the clay and I'm confused. It says wash the car (I can do that much!) then use the clay on it (I'm still with it thus far). It then says wax immediately. Does this mean with Autobalm? Because Autobalm isn't a wax is it? Or do I need to wash it, then clay it, then wax it, then autobalm it?

    Any help much appreciated

    Cheers

    Hi there,

Autobalm is a high gloss wax in a paste form. So it will be your last step product.

    I suggest the following:

    1. Wash the car using 2 bucket method with microfibre mit(one bucket with cold water and one with car wash and warm water). Do each panel at a time and make sure you clean the mitt with the cold water before you start the next panel. Wash the car twice if its dirty. Then rinse with cold water.

2.Using the lubricant(no not that type ;) ) clay the entire car one panel at a time. Instructions should be with the clay, if not let me know.

    3. Once clayed dry the car using a microfibre towel or similar. If you see water marks use megs quick detailer(comes with megs clay) and wipe the whole car down using a towel and the spray.

    4. Polish the car using Autoglym SRP.

    5. Finally crack open the Autobalm and follow the instructions supplied.

    Thanks m886

I have instructions with the clay. Thanks for clearing it up. Just for the avoidance of doubt, can you confirm that I don't need to wax between clay-ing and Autobalm-ing?

Thanks in advance from a daft noob

    Hi,

Just had a read of your first post.....as your paintwork has faded you will need to polish the car after it has been clayed(use autoglym SRP) and then use autobalm. I have updated the steps above.

    So wash,clay,polish(SRP) then use Autobalm

Yes, when I get round to doing it - which will obv have to be after I receive my Autobalm. Won't be this weekend (I'm on the !!!!), so hopefully, if the weather's nice, it will be next weekend.

  • My 11 year old red Corsa did exactly the same - seriously faded to an almost pink and the black bumpers etc went grey. A neighbour helped me out with T-Cut, an electric buffer and then we finished it off with wax to seal it. It now looks as good as new, and I used a cheap bumper restorer spray from Pound Land to recolour the bumpers and they're now perfect!
  • is this normal for an 11 year old car to be this faded?
