Hello
I am planning on upgrading my old iphone to the Iphone 3G as although I don't like the thought of being locked into a fresh 18 month contract I'm pretty sure I'd get another iphone at the end of this contract so I might as well upgrade now.
My question is if I order the new iPhone 3G from The Carphone Warehouse how do o2 know that I am upgrading so I don't get charged two lots of £35 a month?
Thanks

Lol I don't know where you got the notion that I was planning on 'scamming' a phone from the Carphone Warehouse. I just want to upgrade my old iPhone to the new 3G iPhone and was wondering how o2 know that I have upgraded and don't charge me £35 for the old phone as well as £35 for the new one.0

if your due an upgrade o2 will get in touch with you I am sure just like every other phone company who wont want to lose your custom...in the event they don't offer you the latest iphone tell them you ar going else where...when you get an upgrade you carry on using that number...if you get another number then it'll be another contract...

If you're upgrading from 2g to 3g you can upgrade whenever you want through O2, not sure if CPW will do the same though because they have their own upgrades team.
Not sure what you mean about being charged £35 twice though. Or do you mean being charged 2 lots of line rental? If you're just upgrading you will continue on the current linerental providing you stay on the same tariff.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
Yea, I wanted to buy it from The Carphone Warehouse but I emailed o2 and I was right, I would be charged £35 a month for that phone and also £35 a month for the old phone (totaling £70 a month) as they wouldn't know I was upgrading. To upgrade you have to go into either an o2 or Carphone Warehouse shop - basically you can't upgrade online. (Tho you will be able to when the o2 online store has some 3G iPhones in stock)0

So basically you will be taking out a new contract so you will be being charged twice. Why don't you just do your upgrade and extend your existing contract?
If you took out your contract direct with o2 you can upgrade tomorrow if you want, if you took it out with CPW I'm not sure of their procedure as I said because they don't have to abide by o2's terms.Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watchingSave the cheerleader, save the world!0 -
The best (and most easiest) thing to do is walk into any o2 Retail shop and say you'd like to upgrade your 2g iphone to the 3g version. They'll start a new contract straight away with the new phone. No two lots of £35 and it's all sorted. The longer you leave it, you'll still have the 18 months to go0
