Asda Credit Card service - online/phone

I've had so many problems with ASDA cc that I almost feel moved to physical violence!
I went over my credit limit due to an automated payment going from the account which I'd totally forgotten about (took me around £20 over the limit). They wrote asking me to pay the excess amount which I did immediately. However, the D/D then automatically reduced because of the payment (which they'd requested!) so the following month I was over the limit still. I emailed via the online website and they told me not to make any extra payments but to let the D/D go through the next month and it would automatically pick up the excess amount and all would be well. I did that but the D/D only took the normal monthly amount thus, the next month, I was still over the limit. Then I called them (as they were still writing nasty letters demanding money from me) and was told to make an electronic transfer of the overdue amount on the same day as the D/D went through and, this way they said, it would all be ok. I did this but, still, the D/D automatically reduced and the third month I was still over the limit. On the fourth month (now) I've paid the entire balance off as I'm so fed up with the fact that you are completely unable to pay off any excess which allows them to keep adding interest at higher rates.
I'm still waiting for this to go through (made it via electronic transfer). I made another electronic payment to an M & S c/c which went through perfectly fine, no problems.
The website is still not showing that the payment has been received. I tried ringing their number but there appears to be no automated service for balance information out of office hours (which seems really odd, I thought they all had automated balance checkers?) so now I'm reduced to calling them from work (yet again) to find out what's happened.
Their 'Customer Services' (and I use that term very loosely) are rubbish, their phone lines are pointless, the website crashes out all the time or you get the message 'unauthorized access' when you try to log in for no apparent reason.
The whole thing has caused me a permanent headache meanwhile they've made loads of money from me by not allowing me to pay off the over the limit amount because of their ridiculous system. (But it didn't stop them writing me increasingly nasty letters).
No, no, no, no, no.... avoid like the plague.
But, since I'm with them already, does anyone have a number for them which is just an automated balance service for out-of-hours so I can ring that instead of having to deal with the useless 'Customer Service' people? I can't find one which functions out-of-office-hours. Thanks muchly.0 -

I never realised it was capped, I reached £30 about a month ago and was hoping to get to about £50 before they paid out the vouchers, makes sense why my Loyalty Points total is showing as £0.00 when I log in tonight now (I had sent a ticket to ask why).0 -
Ive just noticed whilst paying my asda card online that in the drop down box under card type it has a mastercard
in there, do mastercard do debit cards or are asda different and are allowing you to make a payment with your mastercard credit card if so surely that would be classed as a purchase.
If so and you have a 0% purchase card then you could really pay it off and not have a BT fee added on. or maybes payments are not counted as a purchase - somehow i,m missing something here!!.....0 -

I noticed the Mastercard option not long after I opened my Asda card.
You just need to be careful it's not classed as a cash advance. I don't think it is though as I remember reading a post on here quite a while back from somebody who paid it off using another Mastercard credit card.
I've not tried it myself as I just pay it off by Direct Debit as it's easier. I have thought about using my Egg Money card though to get the cash back on top of the fuel discount etc, but keep forgetting to try it out.0 -

Aye i saw that post, but don't think the OP came back and reported what happened. Do you think i should enquire 1st [ for clarification ] and if so would it be asda i ask. surely they know about it otherwise the mastercard reference would of been taken out of the box.0 -
Hi, on monday 5/10/09 i paid off my asda credit card balance of over £1000 over the phone. They have now told me that they have lost the money and my balance is unchanged (i still owe over £1000), they are launching an investigation. So now i can do nothing with the card, i wanted to make a balance transfer but am in limbo for at least 28 days.
Glad i got a ref no. of the transaction.0 -
I wanted to pay my ASDA credit card this month online. I usually pay it at the bank over the counter.
When it goes to the Asda credit card Worldpay Pay page it says at the top put in your bank account no. This is an eight digit no. Underneath put in the debit card no,expiry date etc you are using to pay.
But when I go to click pay it says the bank acc no should be 16 digits but my bank acc no is eight.
So I'm stuck.0 -
The only issue I seem to have is not being able to log in using IE7. When I do so I get the screen 'unauthorized access'.
Upgrade to IE8 and trying using "compatibility view"I can only log in using Firefox. Other than that I've had no problems - use it for Asda shopping only as it's the nearest supermarket for me but the nearest Asda with a petrol station is too far away to warrant using it.
I would stick with Firefox unless some site does not specifically work well with it.0 -

Is this not your ASDA account number, not the ASDA card number which is different. The account number is used to sign into ASDA online banking.
If you are making a debit card payment there would be no need to supply your bank account number.0
