Cheapest PAYG phone

my father in law wants a mobile on pay as you go - can anyone suggest the cheapest. it really doesn't need to have anything fancy - just be able to make calls!! also, we don't want one where you have to use your credit within a certain amount of time. any suggestions greatly received!!

maybe this link should be made a "sticky" as the same question seems to get asked over and over again and the answer always seems to be "O2 Nokia 6030 via student link" - until O2 drop the offer......... or something better comes along !!!! :whistle:

personally I would stick with the o2 one though as they give you free texts or calls that will soon make up the difference in the cost of the handset. Plus it's a nokia.
