Ksandra you're amazing! Thanks for the info. I emailed VOSA and havent had any reply. I wasnt able to get any info from the Council on teh phone. Please let us know how it turns out. Amazing that it's so close and so central and few new about it. Pleae let us know if you see any/many members of the public doing their cars or if it seems mostly Council vehicles (just out of curiosity).
The amount may seem a bit more than some places but beware... a few months ago I did a low-priced MOT price at a quick tyre specialist in Bletchley (I think they charged 20 pounds) but they failed the car and quoted some 650 quid to fix it. Took it to a local garage recommended by neighbors and they laughed at the report (apparently being familiar with some of that MOT tester's report specs or tendancies) and they were able to fix everything and get it roadworthy for under 200 quid. One expensive item that the quick tyre specialists insisted on replacing entirely would've cost literally hundreds of quid (car was worth close to that amount), while the local garage was able to secure it legally and most adequately using a common item that costs under 0.50 pence.
So it seems that there is some discretionary margin on MOT tests, and the advantage of a government test centre is that since they don't do repairs they wouldn't have the incentive, tendancy, inclination or profit from your doing massive repairs. One can assume that some of the cheap commercial MOT testers may in effect be subsidizing their low MOT prices by planning to profit on your doing repairs on their site. So cheap MOT's are likely a false economy.0 -
Tesco Bletchley seems to be playing pound-shop. Upstairs several sections each have about a dozen products priced at a pound. Toys, packs of DVD-R's, fitness items, etc.
And for fellow romantics (wink, wink, Simma), Tesco Bletchley have some really cheap mark-down prices on candles. Including berry, coffee and chestnut scented ones for just a few p. Seems they are trying to compete with IKEA on this stuff, especially various cheap but nice candle holders. Just in time for Sir Cupid.0 -

Suggestions of a reasonably priced mobile hairdresser, or salon (if push comes to shove!) would be much appreciated...
dunno if anyone has replied for you but Christo's are quite cheap I get my short hair wet cut for about £8 (or grade 3 in summer for £5). Christos are located in Newport Pagnell opposite Co-op on the main drag - park in hte car park behind boots for free I think...
Christos also have another little shop in Stoney Stratford at the top end near Metalyka and Barclays.
