Music Magpie: new quick way to sell unwanted CDs
Comments

Still no one has said they have received their cash from music magpie. I've just input the barcodes for 5 cds, but dont think I;ll send them until there is some confirmation that payment will be made.
Might look at doing Amazon instead.....Threadhead0 -
Is there something similar for books and DVDs? Or should i stick with ebay/amazon/play

My email questions were dealt with very promptly (at one point I was exchanging 'real time' emails with someone in customer services), but it did take some time to get the cheques. I think this may depend on the number of CDs in the transaction, as they test them all before accepting.
Yes, the money they offer isn't great, but you can upload the details whilst watching tv (no chilly car boot sale for me!), and they supply the packaging (Jiffy bags) with prepaid postage (so much easier than selling on ebay).0 -
I am suprised that Moneysaving expert are giving musicmagpie so much coverage.
They give you pennies for CD's and sell them on at a huge markup
I offered a Nick Drake 4CD box set and they offered £3
They sell exactly the same item for £24
I advise anyone to only go to them as a last resort
First try Ebay or Gumtree or ask at 2nd hand stores if they'll buy them
There must be a million ways to sell your own stuff for at least double what they offer
They must be doing well out of the free advertising they re getting on this siteIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
Well I've just been offered £8.80 for 5 CD's.

Hi all, newbie alert !!:D
Just stumbled across this via Martin's email and find it very interesting - I typed in a dozen barcodes from CDs I found in a box in the loft and they all got accepted - prices offered ranged from 30p-£3 (The £3 was for a CD from a band called 'After All' who I've never even heard of - dunno where that CD came from !)
Could be a good way of shifting 'dead' CDs that won't sell on Ebay. Also it might be a useful tool to give you an idea of what other people might be willing to pay for a CD - if Magpie are offering you £3 for it they obviously think it could sell for a lot more than the average, so you could sell it on Amazon or Ebay for a higher fixed/start price. You could type a big pile of CDs into Magpie, print out the results and keep it with your box of CDs for reference... And keep a safe copy as an inventory should (as happened to a friend of mine) your entire CD collection get stolen).
I will only use them as a guide and offload my rubbish. Good idea
But I will wait for more feedback to see if they really do pay upIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
do you pay to send them the cds?THANK MEEE:j0

Thanks for this. Been offered £55 for around 55 CDs that I have been unable to get rid off elsewhere and were destined for the charity shops.0

Just got over £30 for CD's people wouldn't pay 10p for on ebay.
One of the most expensive ones was Gary Glitter - couldn't bring myself to sell on ebay0 -
