I have some frozen cooked chicken which I am defrosting. Can I use it in a pasta bake and reheat it?
Thanks.0 -
Anyone got any good fish recipes using salmon, haddock or cod ?
I have tried mornay, fish pies and fish cakes but looking for some inspiration!
Anything which DS could eat too would be great (he's 15 months).
Thanks in anticipation.queen_of_string wrote: »I have 10 eggs past their date, am after the simplest way to use them up other than egg custard, have searched but cant find an egg glut thread. Had quiche tonight still got 10 left! thanks.
You could batch bake some cakes, muffins etc- then you would have some lovely HM treats to defrost as needed.

Think that I can help out with a few of the questions here....
BigMummaF - don't worry about your stock and it being frozen and defrosted a couple of times. A lot of the issues with re-freezeing are from a quality point of view, as if an item (say meat or fish) is frozen, defrosted and frozen again, it can spoil the quality of the meat as the freezing bursts the meat cells, so it won't taste as good as fresh. But that's not going to be so much of an issue with stock which is water based, so there's nothing to spoil. Evin if you've got veg in the stock, then freezing it a couple of times won't harm it. The crucial thing is to make sure that anything that's been frozen is reheated until it's piping hot, as Pinkwinged said.
Queen of String - eggs will keep for a long time after their date (been known to use them a couple of months after the date's passed) I tend to use them in cooking/baking
Wendy +5 - nothing wrong with using your frozen cooked chicken in a pasta bake, just make sure that it's reheated well.
Orkney Star - have you had a look at the BBC Food website, there's over 1000 fish recipes on it

Hi OrkneyStar,
I love salmon with pasta and all of my kids enjoy it too. Cod works well in a cheese or parsley sauce and haddock is lovely in kedgeree. There are lots of ideas that might help on these earlier threads:
Salmon Fillets
Salmon pasta sauce?
What should I do with cod?
Smoked haddock
Haddock - how to use it?

Hi Wendy,
I've done that lots of times and it's been fine. As nessie said, just make sure it's chilled quickly before storing in the fridge and be sure it's reheated thoroughly.

Ok 2 questions.
1) Can you freeze coconut milk? *EDIT* seen someone else has done this before.
2) If you make a cake and the top is brown, but the bottom is still unbaked what do you do and how do you make sure it doesn't happen again?Getting there... A deal at a time. :T0 -
My daughters waterproof coat has got marks on it that haven't come off with washing. I have no idea what it is but its black and kind of looks like oil
Its 100% Nylon with a 100% polyester lining.
The wash instructions say :- 30degree wash.
- Do not bleach,
- cool iron,
- do not dry clean,
- do not tumbledry
- Use Non-bio powder
- avoid the use of fabric softeners
- garment to be removed from machine immediately after wash.

I'm not as au fait with the boards as I once was and I can't for the life of me find the thread about own brands / tEsco Value ranges. I was hoping to find out what people thought of Tesco's new 'discounter brands'. I tried the coffee this week and thought it fabulous for less than 70p so wonder if people have tried others out.
No doubt someone's posted about them somewhere. Can anyone please point me in the right direction?
Thanks0 -
