  • Hi all
I'm inspired by several of the OS threads and, I'm going to make a pie!!! Two pies actually, a veggie one for me, and a chicken and veg one for OH and DS made from leftovers from M&S bargain roast at the weekend.
I think I'm ok for the filling, and, quite happy that I can still remember how to make pastry!
My quick question is about pie dishes. Last time I made a pie it was for 5 v hungry people, before they started growing up and moving out. What size do you need for 2 or 3 people? I don't want to make a big pie planning for two meals as it will disappear for supper! :naughty:

I thought I might tootle past Asda tomorrow morning as I think they have cheapish dishes etc, just need to know what size/s to go for. If you have any thoughts about depth, and tin vs other sorts of dish that would be helpful too.

    Many thanks

I don't think my question is strictly OS, but I suppose it's about "making do and mending" so here goes:

What is the best sort of glue to use to secure an insole that's come away from the sole of a shoe? I've got two pairs of boots that are terribly uncomfortable to wear because the insoles keep escaping and folding up...

  • We used to use copydex. Don't know if it's the best, but we always had a pot of it in the house, and used it for damn near everything. It doesn't do well, though, if it gets wet.

Thanks, I thought of Copydex (mainly because it's the only brand I could bring to mind) but was thinking maybe it wouldn't stand up too well to the, er, heat and humidity conditions of being sandwiched between my foot and the sole of my shoe all day

  • If you let it dry overnight, it shouldn't be too bad. The good thing with copydex, is that at least if it doesn't work, you can just rub it all off and try something else.

  • Can someone please direct me to the oven cleaning threads. I have tried the search function, but got loads of pages relating to the fly lady threads. I even tried googling mse oven cleaning, but it came up with a link to cleaning oven shelves, and I don't need that.
I just want the easiest, most effective way of cleaning a stainless steel convection/micro/grill oven with baked on debris, that I received from freecycle.

    Edit: found it now!

Quick question - I am making a lasagne tonight but have picked up natural yoghurt instead of creme fraiche for the cheese sauce.
Do you reckon I will get away with it or do I need to go back to Asda:D

    thanks for your help

Hi Nels  I reckon yoghurt will work, though I make my cheese sauce just with milk, flour, cheese and seasoning ;)

Do come back and let us know how it goes :T
