    Hello,
I have made 2 puds and the instructions say to steam for 4-5 hrs then another 4 hours before serving. Last year I steamed it the second time on Xmas eve and then just microwaved it in individual portions on xmas day.

My question is this - Do I need to steam it a second time or can I jump straight to the microwave part?

    Thanks all
I think you can jump to the microwave. The second steaming is 'cos it takes a very long time to heat a dense pud that way! I do mine in the slow cooker on Christmas morning ...

    Good morning,

I got a bag of bargain mushrooms today but the question is, how do I freeze them. i guess you need to slice them first but then can I just bung them in the deep freeze?
    Any ideas? thanks in advance
  • O just sliced and chucked them into portion sized bags and froze! Then I just added them to my curry or whatever and they were fine.

I just sliced/chopped and bunged into freezer bags.
You can lay them on trays to freeze, I think, to stop them sticking together, but I don't bother.

Has anybody successfully put one of the Tesco Cath Kidston bags through the washing machine? I know the label says wipe clean only, but I have been collecting one in each design and a pigeon saw fit to have a crap on my pretty blue and white spotty one  What's the issue with washing them - is it colourfastness, or will it fall to bits?

Don't quote me on it Rzl but I think that Pink told me she washed one of hers in the machine. Of course I may just have [STRIKE]not been listening [/STRIKE]picked her up wrong. :D

Thanks Haribo :D Thing is, as long as I know it isn't going to fall to bits and clog up my machine, I'll give it a go - I've got nothing to lose as I'm not going to keep using it while it's covered in bird sh*t...

    Hi Rzl,

Glad to see someone else likes the Cath Kidston bags....Haribo has laughed at me for collecting them  :p but like you I have collected one in each design.

I have only tried handwashing them so far (see, she wasn't listening) but they came up like new (even after the road cleaner spat all it's dirt in the window of my car and all over my candystripe bag  ) so I'm going to give them a go on a light wash in the machine next time.

When I washed them I half expected them to dissolve in the water because they are made out of recycled plastic but they kept their shape and colour so I'm going to risk the machine next time on a cool wash. You do need to iron them after washing as they do go a bit wrinkly but after ironing they looked as good as new.

  • For the record, I love the bags too but just not quite as obsessively as some people I could mention.
