i clear out hubbys stuff when he's at work too!

    Men!

Oh dear - that makes quite a small crowd of us over here in the 'cruel wives' corner. I can't do it when he's at work, as I'm often out longer than he is, but I do wait for things like cricket matches, whenI know he'll be out and won't catch me 'at it'! A sort of 'in flagrante decluttero';).

The best time is when he's going to be away over a slightly longer period - he's away on a trip at the end of this week for 4 days, and I'm already mentally listing - and have moved one or two things to a quiet little pile in the covered area outside. If he doesn't see them go, I quite often get away with it....! The broken lampshade on one of his beloved oil lamps we use for camping - honestly - it's been sitting outside for two years and never touched. He wanted to keep the roofing from the conservatory we've just taken down after 14 years, and I had to take him to the garage and show him where he'd stored the two sheets that we had as leftovers that he kept when we put the conservatory up in the first place. He conceded that perhaps he didn't need any more for the time being.

I have visions of men all over the Uk coming home and asking 'Where's that gone then? I'm sure I had one round here somewhere...'

I took the advice of cyclingyorkie and with baby steps I made a start of decluttering at the weekend. I then spent another half an hour last night whilst the tea was cooking and now seem to have caught the 'decluttering bug' it seems there's no stopping me!!

I haven't thrown anything away belonging to the OH yet that he doesn't know about (not brave enough :rotfl:) although I did ask him in passing conversation last night whether he still needed x, y, z to which he replied no = result!! Into the rubbish bin they went! :p

So here's how I got on:

    IN:
    x 2 Birthday cards
    x1 Birthday presents
    x1 Pack of wooden flooring
    Food shopping
    x2 Tops
    x1 Skirt

    OUT:
    x2 Birthday cards
    x1 Birthday present
x 1 bag of rubbish into the dustbin
Sorted out two draws in bedroom = 2 tops now into pending charity bag
Sorted out box of instruction manuals / user guides = half of box recycled due to the fact we don't have said items any longer
Pile of magazines into recycling bin
6 books = for friend to read then pass on to someone else (3 will be returned  as they are particular favourites)

Haven't quite achieved the minimalistic look yet but its a start isn't it? :o
