  • Hi, can i join? I'm in need of some motivation. And perhaps writing down what i get rid of will help me get over the idea of actually getting rid of it?

    i am a horder.
~ i work in a museum, so it's my nature to salvage and hang on to the old...
~ my mum saves everything in case it is needed, so i've been taught well...
~ i care for the environment by trying not to waste things, so i keep them in case they can be re-purposed...
~ my chap is tollerant and does like it when i can produce the right screw or bit of string at a moment's notice!

...but the house is full, and we want to sell, and often i can't find what i'm looking for because there is SO MUCH STUFF !!!

So i'll pledge to de-clutter. I love your idea of 1 thing out 1 thing in. Lets see what I can do with today while i lurk waiting for the plumber...

Very pleased to say that we've been back in our newly decorated and de-cluttered bedroom now for two weeks, and the surfaces are all still clear, the rug is walkable on, and all is still calm. Very nice room to be in at the end of the day.

Oh, and have three big bin bags full of rubbish to give to the next charity that puts a leaflet through the door (well, the next proper charity, not those moneymaking ones...)

Oh, goodness - I definitely need this thread! We are completely cluttered!!!

    let's see...

    In:
-2 christmas presents that arrived in the post

    Out:
    -some old bills (shredded)
    -junk mail (in and out)
-miscellaneous pieces to mini bouncy castle - deflated and moved to shed for winter

    Taking steps towards removal:
    - items placed on ebay, awaiting finish of auction
    - toilet seat thing (not sure what the appropriate word is) - to be freecycled this weekend when we'll be home for pickup
MSE mum of DS(7), and DS(4) (and 2 adult DCs as well!)

:snow_grin Christmas 2013 is coming soon!!! :xmastree:
  • I have brought more in than out recently and stopped decluttering.

Listed 17 items on ebay to hope they sell and continue the declutter!

Need to get back on the ebay listings and start selling the clutter and clear the spare room and then finally start decorating the upstairs when the room is cleared out!

Better have this as my new mantra!

    "Declutter, declutter!!
    Clear out, clear out!!
    Make room, regain space, decorate!!
Do not reclutter, do not reclutter!!
    Enjoy your space and light!!"
