The Great Declutter - 18 months on

Penny Farthing, thats a lovely post. Sitting back and thinking about all the money we spent on what we're now trying to get rid of for pennies, and the time involved at both ends of the equation. Its very sobering.
And I know what you mean about the wardrobe space. I'm not there yet, but one thing I did do a few years ago was gradually replace all the freebie shop hangers and dry cleaning hangers with solid wood ones - only those things from the cheapie shops at £1.50 for 3, but they look so nice now. Still more to do, but I'm really glad to read of someone who's near the end of the decluttering journey.
On my own decluttering journey - I spent an hour and a half or so yesterday working on my horrible, horrible garage. The meters for the gas and elec are right at the front, and even so you had to sidle round things to read them. Now, its still not finished, not by a long chalk, but there's a space in the front third, where you can walk in and stand upright and not feel claustrophobic. And I swept the floor there and as far in as I could reach.
I'm so, so happy with that!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Out
The kitchen table-top of accumulated mail - sorted, dealt with or burnt as appropriate
Two huge bags of grass clippings
Crud from two litter bins that seem to regularly get missed out in the weekly cleaning session! (My '1 day a week house-husband' (ie he works the other 4) is clearly resistant to training in some areas...)
Athletics shorts that I put on this morning for the first time in two years - they've died completely....
In
(and packed away!) enough shopping to last the next couple of weeks, using up the Tesco's vouchers in last week's Daily Mail - saved myself £20 - with only *one* small fib - 'Yes, I'm sure I bought £10-worth of Health and Beauty products.....' It also gave me a money off coupon for petrol (saved another £2), till coupon for reduced beer... and now I can refill the mower, cut the grass again while the going's good, and have a beer once I've taken the whole ot to the tip!
Ever feel that we're on the domestic equivalent of the Forth Road bridge, folks?Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -

Penny_Farthing - I am just so jealous!! Well done to you :T
My journey will take quite a bit longer. Kids are currently querying why they should tidy their bedroom when ours is such a tip
Have gone through a lot of paperwork today so quite satisfied with that. Am inspired to do some more shortly and perhaps some more ironing too.
IN:
The Times newspaper (for Shawshank Redemption DVD)
Groceries
Pop up dirty clothes baskets for DS's and DH
OUT:
Recycling paperwork etc (binmen due tomorrow)
The Times newspaper (unread!)
Currently preparing some items for listing on ebay, lets hope sales have picked up. Will be doing BIN rather than the free listing tomorrow to hopefully get quicker sales. Please do not quote spam as this enables it to 'live on' once the spam post is removed.
If you quote me, don't forget the capital 'M'

In: Mail.
Out: Mail, as it was all rubbish.
Tomorrow:
In: Some soft drinks from Lidl (Pepsi, or whatever's cheapest), duvet
Out: 3 bags of rubbish, 1 bag for charity
Spending time decluttering later, eg because I've still not unpacked from moving, I am sure there's more I can find to get rid of.0
