My bedroom has been redone and it's marvellous - only nice things have gone back in, and until we bought a new rug yesterday (well, very old one, at auction - great fun!) it was actually echoing in there, so cleaned-out was it! Very nice to feel happy and at peace as soon as you walk in to your bedroom. Feel like the de-cluttering is really getting done now.

I don't often post here though I read regularly. You've inspired me to declutter and I've got rid of loads of 'stuff' over the last couple of weeks; unfortunately my house looks even more like a tip now, albeit a much emptier tip! I'm waiting for a couple of big things to be collected by freecyclers and then I can really start on the reorganising and I'll be able to see what I've achieved - should have taken 'before' and 'after' pics! :D its a good feeling!
... don't throw the string away. You always need string! :D

Hmmm decluttering, I think I will join you.

I have a spare room that really needs looking at. A question though, how do you discipline yourself to actually declutter and not just move from one place to another?

nearlyrich, that's my next decluttering job and I'm dreading it  I love my books but I have too many

ajmoney, I've put stuff on freecycle, its great because it tends to go quite quickly, I need to get it out of the door asap, thats half the battle for me, no opportunity to change my mind!

  • Nice to see this thread again.

In - two free lipsticks, courtesy of MSE. a pair of leather gloves from the charity shop and two baskets, also from the charity shop, for my pantry. Also some wood from a friend, but that went straight in the stove so I'm not sure if it counts

Out - lots of bottles, plastic and otherwise, that I was saving for elderflower champagne, also a small telly and some potatoes to the friend that gave us some wood (it's very Freecycle round here)
