how we gonna cope without our lovely weezl eh?! Good for them to have some chill time though as both have been working very hard of late and I do worry bout them overdoing it so will do them good to have a break
Another one hoping they're having a well deserved "chill" after all their recent hard work -- and also hoping they "splurge" on their food this week too!!

Just think -- this could be their last holiday as a "couple". Welcome to the headaches of "family" holidays in the future wink.gif

We have to use black bags--or bags of some description--for our rubbish  And to add insult to injury, at the time the dustmen actually took rubbish out of a dustbin as opposed to picking up the bags from the end of the path  one charming character bemoaned my using inferior bags......you can probably work out his terminology

Wow, more catching up to do (part 1 before I even got to part 2).

Shaz- a belated 'well done!' on your wins! Award winning fruit cake!!

jtb- How did your first meeting go? Different age range, but I do enjoy Rainbows, even if I feel the need to lie down afterwards!! (Going to a Beaver meeting afterwards tends to keep it in perspective though!!)
What area are you in? I'm Oxfordshire so (bizarrely) under East Anglia region.

S'posed to be making runner bean chutney, so better get back to it...

  • Hi all,
All the best to cw18, thoughts from "here down under" are with you.

In my situation, the carbs are the expensive part of our diet. Have not been able to purchase in bulk in the past due to storage issues, but am finally having a walk in pantry installed in the house.

So with lentils, etc, would they last for a year? Should I put any additives in with them eg bay leaves?
    Any advice very welcome

    Hi all

In Search of Me... Im not sure i could make myself take the money out of my bank to buy myself one..but well its for my mommy lol and at £40 instead of £80 ...so I don't mind.. im sure once I move home I will benefit from it ..ssshhhh :D

On the rubbish bag front.... I took advantage of my shop today - I always use fabric bags.. but they have those annoying big paper bags like in america.. so I "liberated" quite a few -as they just happen to fit my bin nicely -i refuse to buy the ones for the bin.. so organic waste goes in there and then in teh dustbin.... and the non recycle items go in carriers then in the bin... I can't stand to just drop stuff in loose -it makes such a mess ..

  • know what you mean mrs m -so much easier to justify such a treat for someone else isnt it! Sure our weezl's ill be enjoyng the break and get away from it all...sometimes a change of scenery does the world of good but unsure if they'll splurge on the budget lol!! Think that may be against mrs weezles nature...remember how she wouldnt spend the 16p on cola bottles at the end of the last challenge!!

Crikey the 2nd time I've been dragged out of lurkerdom in a few weeks!

You are always so supportive and positive, however I guessed from your very early posts that you had to cut back for some reason, but never in a million years did I realise it was something so difficult.

You seem to be ready to meet these challenges head on, and I am sure that you will suceed.

I know I should post more, but just to let you know that you are in my warmest thoughts,

Meeting went great hmkn ....... thank you for asking xx Wasn't as daunting as I thought it would be and I didn't get eaten for breakfast by 25 teenage girls ! lol

Scary bit in 2 weeks when I have to do a 'promise activity' by myself  - haven't a clue what i'm going to do so best get revising !

We're in West Sussex. Very strange you come under East Anglia (where I used to come from !)

Let me know how the runner bean chutney comes out - might have a bash at making that next year - instead of having 2 drawers full of them in the freezer !

Not doing too bad on the ripping the heating system out front - new tank is in so at least we have hot water ! Chap kindly isolated the gas for us so that we could cook tonight  :rotfl: . New rads upstairs and pipes under floorboards going in tomorrow - just glad i'm at work for a couple of hours !

Am off to bed now - tis a tad chilly here ladies ! Brrrrrr :snow_laug :rotfl:

Thanks to all for the best wishes and thoughts.

As I said a few posts back, things could be worse (eg. in danger of losing house in the short-term). And I know I have a good support network in the family, on here, and on a crafting forum I've been a member of for years.

But there's lots and lots of positives to look forward to. First there's "baby Weezl" (aka Fergus), and I'm a real soft touch when it comes to babies.... I keep telling the lady next door to come and knock on when her twins (now 5 months old) are playing up and she needs a hand while her hubby is at work.

And then I'm looking at a total career change when I do "go back" to work. One option I'm seriously considering (and am about to start groundwork for) is child-minding -- and my daughter has already said that once I'm registered I can have my grand-daughters. She "offered" without me asking, but it was the thought of this possibility that has had me seriously considering it. I can't think of anything better than being paid to spend time with them, and where I can take them out for day trips during school holiday -- all tax deductable, and giving me heaps of photo opportunities for my scrapbooking :j

What I need to figure out is whether having just those two round school hours would give me enough income to cover the bills, as I'd rather not have others if I don't have to ;)
