just done a google on Chorizo Sausage (not something I buy/use) and came up with this casserole you could use as one of the sausage meals (I noticed you have chick peas, and I'm sure you could get creative to omit the wine)Cheryl0

I've spotted the mozzarella on your list. Some of the ladies on here make their own pizza bases, so another possibility if you make your own tomato sauce (and possibly another use for the Chorizo
)

There was an article about guerilla gardening on a tv programme the other night & I couldn't help wondering if there were any Weezlites amongst 'em all
Yep...but I wasnt on the tv....was about to say "never been on the tv" - but glimpses have been caught of "the lesser spotted ceridwen" before now..:D
Errr....what programme/channel/etc - does anyone know? Wondering whether I might be able to catch it on Iplayer or summat?0 -
Food for thought <groan> in today's Independent newspaper:

Now who is going to have a go at making their porridge with water and putting some treacle in it? Dont all rush at once.....0 -
I shall be looking out for that book at an affordable price I think Ceridwen - but then I love cookery books from 'days gone by' even if only to see how expectations have changed.
I found the comment at the end by Terry Durack a little extreme -- there's nothing to stop anyone following a recipe in the book (possibly with the addition of herbs to bring it more up to date, certainly what I'd try as I never use salt other than in my bread-maker) and serving up with a side dish of vegetables.Cheryl0 -
Oh, and as to the porridge with water and treacle -- not a huge treacle fan, but porridge made with water and golden syrup goes down well with meCheryl0

ooh yes me too,
I love porridge made with water topped with syrup,I find it's yukky made with milk somehow.I almost had a panic attack when I couldn't find syrup in MrT last weekI've also tried making the much loved hob nobs with treacle as it was so cheap but I didn't like them so much,I don't think I could eat it on porridge either, bleurgh!

Shelbel
meal ideas
pasta with tuna in spicy tomato sauce
pasta with sausages in tomato sauce
pasta with bacon and broccoli in cheesy sauce
spaghetti with red lentil bolognese
pizza with mozzarella and chorizo (i have a recipe for the base if you want it)
shepherdless pie
5 bean chilli and rice
corned beef shepherds pie
egg and chips and tinned marrowfats /beans
sausage casserole
sausage mash and beans/gravy and veg
omelettes (spanish type) i use tinned potatoes and fridge veg leftovers
for me the best way of stretching the budget is
1 use what you have first
2 only buy what you need
3 make the meat go further by adding veg and cutting meat like steak or sausages into smaller pieces
4 plan ahead and stay out the shops
I bulk buy so i can "shop at home" and top up with fresh stuff
