  • Yes ISOM it arrived on wednesday i have been playing ..................... i have done 9 jars of passata type past sauce and 10 jars of homegrown runner beans so far its a bit addictive but don't want to buy too much produce to bottle as it defeats the point. I Have foraged about 20lb of apples(so far) and once the new jars arrive i will be bottling apple pie filling ...nom

I will be bottling my tea wine later and some beer too the wine has gone crystal clear can't wait to taste it , how did everyone elses turn out i did 2 the apple a chammomile and rasp and cranberry one also got a sloe and elderberry i made last autumn to bottle too(i have high hopes for this one)

Actually, cheese and bean wraps are really nice! I grate the cheese and mix it with some kidney beans and mayo, then put it in a wrap with some lettuce.

 Yummy. Might try some of those.

  • Isom the americans call it canning but its bottling or rather jarring basically its another method of preserving (without adding sugar as in jam or vinegar as in pickles)

The canner is a gian pressure cooker you put food in special jars and cook them at pressure this heats to 240 degrees killing all bacterial spores and sealing the jars with a vacuum

Helps not having to store stuff in the freezer and you can do meal too like chilli soups curries etc so will save time on a busy day ......save buying a takeaway

Hope everything is ok your end ? Love to weezl and Ferg from aunty shaz !

Since I came back from my holdiay....
    Pants :o
But I'm ok about it, iykwim ;)
I am trying to be good health wise.
I seem unable to be good health wise and money wise.....
Its an "either, or" thing for me, I'm affraid. :p
But I am eating all the healthy stuff out of my freezer, instead of going to the supermarket, so maybe I am doing better than I thought ;)
  • well done you! Am doing the same but still buying occasionals like eggs and bread as havent had the energy to make bread...:( Will also now have to seriously debate with mysef about free range/organic eggs as no money...vs the fact that I really abhorr the way they are kept so will prob have to have less eggs to not compromise on what is, for me a fairly strong principle...tricky.
