Can anyone point me in the direction of some frugal tofu recipes? I've got 4 packs of Bluedragon Tofu to use up by the 3rd Sept:o

Was this from home bargains by any chance?
I cubed mine and fried it with the frylight buttery spray (low cal!) until it went a little crispy and then added some seasoning with soy sauce, on its own it is fairly tasteless but would be good to add moisture to other things like a veggie bake or lasagne.God is good, all the time

We were watching "Bank of Mum & Dad" on $ky last night & there was a young chap who spent an horrendous amount on food each month, in the name of 'body building'. Anyhooz! They had a female world champ who trained as a nutritionialist[?] when she left body building, who took him around various places to show how you could get more bang for yer buck. I'm 98% positive she said around 50g of kidney beans was equivalent to a 185g tin of tuna protein-wise, but--of course, at the time of filming--at less than a quarter of the price.
Just thought--on a par with Weezl's geek--this might be of interest to folk, but personally I'm not so sure I'd fancy them in a sarnie with cucumber :rotfl:

tofu always is tasteless - you need to marinade it or cook in a nice sauce - i love it and wouldn't really eat it 'plain'! (though deepfried with sweet chilli sauce I could handle
I've got some as well but haven't cooked with it yet as it seemed too soft to stirfry.. might have to give it a go ...or oven cook I guess as then it won't need stirring around all the time and therefore breaking up.0 -

Thanks for the ideas - so far I've cooked a pack (lightly fried in spray oil first) in sweet & sour sauce and served with rice. I wasn't impressedLast night I made another pack up into a cottage pie I was making with beef mince bedrock thing from Economy Gastronomy. It tasted better but I still have another 3 packs to go :rotfl::rotfl:
