Hi guys, I'm going to join this thread as I'm TTC again. DS took me nine months :S but I was so stressed and really unhealthy. I'm stocking up on wholemeal pasta and rice, plus I'm trying to grow my own veggies (have been eating lettuce from the back yard already). Do you guys know how to start off elderflowers in your garden? I'm really tempted by the elderflower cordial recipies (I've heard elderflower drinks are a good substitude for wine).
Hi
A woman I work with bough a small elder tree from the garden centre. I'm not sure how much it was though.
To be honest, if I wanted an elder tree in my garden, I would be inclinded to look for a tree locally in hedgerows, and take a cutting from it, and plant that.
Or alternatively, you could just forage locally for elderflowers....
There are still some around at the moment, but round here, they are fast turning towards the berry stage now.
Hope this helps0 -

Luckily no B'days or anything like that coming up and I don't need newspapers, coffees out either. I am not sure how DH and DSs are going to take it but there it is, a decision made.
sometimes, when people need an extra frugal period of time, they list what provisions they have and the lovely people on here come up with LOTS of ideas on how to get the most out of them0 -
I did a "Stuffed Cue" once..trying to think how I did it...but know I found the recipe in a veggie cook book in the library. Got a feeling the filling was chopped toms, onion & peppers & think it might have involved boiled rice too--cue cut in half length-ways & seeds scooped out, filling in, wrapped in foil & essentially dropped into a pan of water for x time. We had half a cue each as I recall, for a main course meal.
I didn't mind it as it came out a bit like marrow but the offspring were not keen to say the leastMaybe google the recipes for marrow & adapting them could be an option?
Hmmm....thats giving me summat to work on....that and the earlier post about the Victorians having eaten boiled cucumber with white sauce....thinks: "hmmmm....some sorta combination of steamed stuffed cucumber with cheese sauce....way to go....." I like a bit of stuffed marrow....so maybe...0
