Hi all!
Have no energy today, the humid weather seems to leach it all out of me............blech. However, yesterday was reflecting on the garden abundance not from stuff I plant - we 'used' to have a man who came to cut the grass (now I do it!) - the garden always looked great, very neat & tidy. Now it's a big massive jungle, but on the plus side I realised he used to whip out all the self-seeded plants - he had a 'scorched-earth' policy :rotfl: Now that doesn't happen, we are overrun with wild strawberries - I keep picking them although I know they are tiny, the bag in the freezer is getting pretty large now.:D
Weezl - do I recall you made/had a recipe for raspberry ripple ice cream??? I searched but nothing came upThe natives are restless - commenting 'you NEVER buy anything we want to eat - like PROPER chips & the aforementioned RR ice cream' I'd like to make it if possible....shut the beggars up IYSWIM

Is it foaming alot ??
And how far up the demijohn is it sitting ??
If its at the shoulders, and foaming, it would be better to leave it for now, before topping up.
But if its lower down than that, it will be ok to top it up now...
Sorry.. hope I have explained that ok0 -

Sashanut, what about putting some of your strawberries in the icecream? I bet wild strawberry icecream would be yummy!
Tonight we are having lentil and spinach curry that I made a day or so ago. (With free spinach donated by a friend whose boyfriend works in a greenhouse type place!) What about everyone else?

:TFab.... as long as your airlock is fitted ok, they should be ok.
If you are still worried about them bubbling over, put a plastic bag over the airlock, just incase
Dont forget to keep one demijohn empty.... you will need this when your ferments are finished and you need to rack your wine off its sediment, so it can start its clearing process
Edit... I just thought... You did only fill up to about the 4 litre mark ie the shoulders of the demi john ??0 -
Hello everyone
Wow it's hot although I'm not complaining as the garden grows like wildfire and all the washing is dry in a few hours on the line :T We were supposed to be having sweet & sour chicken and rice for tea but it's too hot for it. I've made some falafel mini balls/burgers instead and will do them in pitta breads with salad. I found the recipe on April's Grocery Challenge here if anyone fancies a look.0 -

Yes.... this sounds like a plan for me, for tea too...
I have some mushroom burgers in the freezer (reduced from Tesco)
Will have them with pitta and salad
Not to heavy in the heat :T0 -
Am waiting... patiently.... for my first courgettes to come thru - we have buds. There are potaoes everywhere but hey they cost pennies and are easy to grow.
Recent fave is slow cooker bean pot, cook a cheap ham shank for a few hours then cut up, return to pan with anything thats loitering in the veg basket and some presoaked butter and haricot beans, one veg cube or leftover stock and cook till you cant wait any longer. Yummy
I froze a load of elderflowers to make cordial but already made mint syrup (google a recipe - there are loads) wonderful with cheap lemonade.
Oh Oh I hear thunder and the rescue guinea pigs and rabbits are outside better go and put them inside!Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0
