Evening all hope you all had a lovely day today.

    Little frugal update from me.

Mixed 1/3 bottle water to 2/3 bottle fairy - no difference at all to the washing up - interesting...now I have a full bottle again :D

Had salad thinnings for tea with leftover chicken and pasta bake with leftover tomato sauce from Sat tea. That chicken went a long way, plus snacking by me!

Made canes for pea and bean supports out of branch prunings from earlier this year which were still in the garden. Most pleased with these! Wonky but flexible and better. I love this recycling nature theme! :D Need to find some other projects to carry this on.

Yesterday baked a load of jacket spuds, had one for lunch with leftover coleslaw and then mixed the rest up with some old cheese and butter and froze them. While the oven was on made some coconut maccaroons (which I have eaten most of today :o) to use up the 3 egg whites leftover from my second time making custard from scratch. Pleased with the oven use doubling up and freezing more preprepared items.

Now I need to find a use for the 4 avocados I bought for some reason last week (can't remember why :o) Can't eat that much guacamole on my own!

oo well done fed up and skint! can you post the macaroon recipe...yummy!
Aww twinkle sorry youre not my lovely librarian...yes I have been to new library but was disapp by the poor lifts, not good for older people or disabled in terms of accessibility but its stunning to look at! I used to spend some time as a student in the bute library and arts and ss libraries...not much mind!!
Well I can confirm a tody disaster for our weezls tea that they cant even recycle for mum...the pan I use is ok for soup but burned the curry so will have to use sommat els in future as it was vile...weezles ate it but I couldnt! Also did a spinach curry and spicy pots which were thankfully edible!

Poor you ISOM, nice quality pan in future on a low heat for the curry. Always a shame when food burns in a pan like this. I did the same with the chickpea curry I made at the weekend when I left it on too large a gas ring by mistake!

Good evening everyone. I've been busy over the weekend with family stuff & DS1 is a poorly boy & has kept us all up for the last few nights coughing bless him. He's on some antibiotics now after the out of hours doctor prescribed some. He's in the bath as I type & will probably have an early night ;) I won't be far behind him :o

The frugalling over the weekend seems to have been of the bake instead of buying treats & streeeeeetching meat meals  out with veggies & potatoes. All very tasty & filling though. It would have been nice to have a bbq yesterday but I didn't have anything in that could be bbq'd and I wasn't going to buy stuff especially

Weezl - I'm sorry that your Mum is so difficult to cater for. Mine is the total opposite. She was freezing single tinned toms in yoghurt pots, making meals stretch for a few days, baking bread & making her own museli back in the 70's when everyone else was buying Vesta dried curries. I actually used to be jealous of the other kids convenience foods at one point, as we never had them, but I'm glad now :T Would your Mum go for things like a simple tomatoe sauce with wholemeal pasta? My Mum still makes a dish she calls Pepperoni. Cook rice, make a ratatouille sort of sauce with tinned toms, peppers, courgettes, onion & herbs. Then put the rice in a ring round the plate and the sauce in the middle. Drop an egg into the middle of the sauce, cover with grated cheese and put the plate into the oven until the cheese has melted & the egg cooked. It's yummy when you break through the melted cheese to runny egg yolk and tomatoey sauce

Thought I would pop in and say Hi
The cookies went down very well and very quickly! I can hightly recommend them. I made a giant cookie cake for my friend which I iced, at a fraction of the price of the ones from Millies :)
