    POSTSCRIPT:

    Thinks........

'twould be an idea to put the link for my gardening notes in case there's any other rank amateurs like myself;) in this respect who might find it useful:

    http://mygardeningnotes.blogspot.com/

its sorta going in a 3-way direction since comment by RAS t'other day about the links coming in useful towards their idea to help start up a local community scheme soon. At the moment - its for me/anyone else in similar position to myself (no knowledge/tiny household/tiny bit of land etc) and anyone who has any thoughts along the lines of getting groups going...

I've put substantially what I want to on it so far - i.e. rather a number of hours of research. Just got some fine-tuning to do on it still...all contributions welcome (as comments on that blog) towards the gaps in knowledge I still have about growing times/how many plants fit in per square foot/etc.

Its a different style to my main blog. This one is just notes/links/notes/links....etc...as I find them interesting/necessary.

I like to watch the birds too, Ceridwen. I have a bird table outside the kitchen window and it makes washing up a lot more pleasant when I can watch my resident robin and pair of great tits (oh lordy, it's going to **** that out, isn't it?). The latter pair ;) (or parents thereof, depending on how long they live) nested in the garden last year and we watched them with great interest. The robin always appears when I've been digging and watches me from across the garden in case I unearth any delicacies (was going to say ***bits, but thought I'd best not LOL). And he scoffs all the mealworms I put on the bird table for him - he'll be as fat as anything by spring!

    ETA - didn't *** it after all! I'm surprised.

:rotfl: now wondering if you could get that robin "trained" to respond to a dinnergong "Dinner is served my lords, ladies and resident robin:grin:  "

Why route out your own food when you have a nice human to do it for you? Heh..
  • I found the link very useful and will be coming back to this thread.

I NEED to make some changes in my life but not sure what excatly needs doing IYKWIM/

The robin in my dad's garden got so tame he would sit about a yard away and supervise the digging. And I've seen pictures of them feeding from a person's hand. Cheeky little blighters, but they are so cute.

Teaparty - I see you from my part of the country.........well I don't live that way now but was born in the south of the county. I'm sure you'll pick up all sorts of ideas here on how to improve the quality of life............I know I have and its made me think twice about a lot of things.

2cats - we have a lot of birds in the garden -having our little wild life area helps - I love to see them all and just quietly watching them out of the kitchen window can start the day of right. We too have a resident robin, not as tame as the birds were at my grans cottage when we were kids. They used to pass by the big ginger tom can and come into the kitchen to eat from grans hand.

Well, today I've been clearing out some folders and re-arranging all my history papers in some sort of order.............if anyone looked in my room they'd think I'd done nothing but at least I know they're done and tomorrow I'll do a bit more. Small doses but positive steps

  • Hi folks - first post on this thread.

Have been reading Simplifying Life thread from begining, just when I thought the end was near - it was like nooooooo - you went and started another one ! Have just finished catching up on this one too!
You have all given me the kick up the 'rear end' that I needed - am proud to say my one bed flat is now partially de-cluttered. Didn't realise how much stuff there was 'til it came to sorting it out (expanding walls comes to mind).:o
I even recycled a load of plastic carriers - why was I keeping lots of emplty plastic carrier bags

This week alone - kitchen cupboards sorted, lot of glassware and 2 casserole dishes not used these days went to charity shop - seem to be lucky with my local Barnado's as the manager will take absolutely anything - as she says 'if she can't use it, she will pass it on to another shop that can'. Have also sorted food stockpile on 4 shelf pine rack (in bedroom, for lack of space anywhere else), started notebook of food stocked and best before dates.

Keeping desk diary is a great idea, got one in £ shop - page per day, coz I am the worst ever for notes on bits of paper !

Feel as though I know you all so well from your posts and you are an amazing bunch of people. Mary - how you cope with all that is going on in your life I will never know.

Thanks for starting this thread Ceridwen and a good de-cluttering New Year to all .
When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

    Hi Pagan Girl

I know ALL about notes on scrappy bits of paper:rolleyes: - hence the Desk Diary - which I feel should help me keep track a lot better than playing "Hunt the missing note about.......". Am actually sitting there thinking "I'll be glad when I can start it - only 2 days to go before I can feel that bit better organised" and have already written in it what months to plant various seeds (so hopefully I'll be more sorted on the garden front than I was this year:D ) and I shall be writing in there what dates I expect to get some food from them.....almost wish I knew how long it will take them to germinate...but then I'd probably sit there tapping the calendar visibly going "Come on now...the instructions said you take x days to germinate...its 2 days after that now...pop your little head up now please and get counted:D ".

Since I have to go on a bit of a diet again - New Years Resolution time - this time I think I'll work out a month's eating plan for that and stick that onto my private blog. Much better than the scrappy notes I made on diets before - and I can keep it there for ready reference should I ever need another diet in the future (goes off muttering "I'd better not...this had better be the last darn time I ever need a diet...... "). Envies my mother in that respect as she's simply not interested in food.....I certainly cant say likewise!

pagangirl - my word you have done well (puts dunces hat back on again !)

I've just cleared out two more shoe boxes -mostly card making stuff that needed to go to charity shop or neighbours daughter (neighbour will be cursing me...............lol)
Rearranged the top of my cupboard and found part of the space was taken up with notebooks...........you know the wooden backed sort with hand made paper inside -lovely leafy patterns on the covers.........much too nice to use.
Hadn't a clue where to put these and our youngest foster lad came up with the idea of hanging them on the wall with plate hangers ! Brilliant ! Gives me something pleasing to look at and will make me take down a few pictures that quite honestly I'm a bit fed up looking at. So, I was well pleased with that but can't do it till the new year when the shop I need will be open..............then it'll be a big re-arrange of the walls in my little den.
Am thinking of taking down mums wedding photo and the two of her when she was little..........I find it quite depressing looking at her how she was and knowing how she is now. Can't help having guilt pangs about it but I feel I have to do it. Dad can stay put on the top of the china cabinet banging away at his drums and first 0H and little boy I'm happy to have in view. Maybe I'll find a suitable one of her when she was much younger and she can sit by the side of dad.............think that'll be a much better idea.

Our kitchen cupboards are desparately in need of a clear out but think we'll wait till young lad is back at school for them.
