Hi there everyone- have been lost!! My thread 'I want a simplier life' seemed to disappear:(. Has taken me two days to discover its been merged with this thread- I'm still learning about the forums. I apologise if I did the wrong thing by setting up my thread, I had thought about joining this thread but it seemed everyone was so much further on their journey and I was starting from scratch.
The advice and support has been invaluable and I am truly grateful.
My journey to simplify things continues......:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
Agree that these threads should NOT keep being merged with old ones, because it is the kiss of death and posts seem to stop once this happens0 -
Thanks Lavandula, I didnt know threads could be merged, bit disappointed cause was getting lovely support and advice from regular posters and not sure if they will know whats happened to the thread.
At least I know not to take it personally!!
Thanks again :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
I started a thread that merged with this one too!! We are all still here! I reckon it was at last 5 months ago but it was about simplyfing life. I've definitely done that and seriously I am the happiest i have ever been and hope to be debt free in 6 months time. I am having the best time of my life! As i think i said in my previous post...suddenly it all makes sense. This website has been a godsend to me and the people that post. Keep posting. xxxIf music be the food of love then play on"No matter what happens, or how bad it seems today, life does go on, and it will be better tomorrow". ღ ~Maya AngelouDoing it for my kids. Hi All,
Been bit quiet on here for few days- wondered if any of the lovely posters who posted on my 'I want a simpler life' thread are around?
My weekend has been good- sold quite a few things on e-bay- am busy packing them up for posting.
No expensive take-aways or days out as we would have done previously- we had a lovely family time (myself, DH and DS), spent much of yest in garden in the sunshine, normally would have gone to seaside, bought food drinks etc and generally spent a fortune.
Instead we had a little picnic in the garden, pottered about and read, played games with DS and generally had a stress free day, much more enjoyable.
Must dash as lunch-hour is over, would love to hear how everyones simplifying their lives :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Hello, I am here! We have no pennies until payday so we have been enjoying time in the garden (weather permitting) and my DD and I have spent a lot of time random dancing around the living room and baking. I have been trying to clear out areas of the house so that we have space for the things that are important but it is hard going!Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

I am continue to spend lots of time in the garden. I am really enjoying gardening. There is always something to do. My first crop of salad leaves should be ready soon and I am so looking forward to eating them. I have some veg plants being delivered with my fruit box this week and flowers next week. I am looking forward to planting them. My potatoes are coming on. My compost heap is coming on.
I think I could shave more off my grocery budget but will keep it as it is at the moment. I have cut down on food waste. I plan to start knitting again but haven't done anything about it yet.

I am so happy with the way my plans for a simple life are progressing. I got a Carol Klein gardening diary for Xmas off my son - 25p off Amazon :rotfl:perfect O/S gift and he was chuffed that I was so happy with it. I was filling in all the things I had planted last night and Carol talked about 'food inches' instead of miles and I though how appropriate for all of us trying to produce our own food. Today is another NSD which seems to be the core of my life now, so I took myself off upstairs and made a couple of little shopping bags for Ds and my niece to take to work.
When we had the builders in earlier in the year I packed away all my craft stuff and have been quite shocked at all the bits and bobs I have amassed and can now use for projects I have in mind. To be honest I can quite easily spend a good few weeks making things and not going out at all. For 3 years i have made Christmas almost completely from what I had in stock and will carry on doing the same for as long as possible.
I think the simplified life can be very rewarding and its never too late to start!Clearing the junk to travel light

I have never been particularly crafty, however I have started quilting in last couple of months. Would love to learn more.
Wow ginnyknit, how clever to be able to do much of christmas without going out to spend a fortune on things- think that could be the start of another thread- preparing us all for an os christmas!! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
lilykins, if you want to learn new crafts there are loads of tutorials on you tube and there are christmas makes threads on the special occasions area of MSE. I will be adding some of my makes to my homepage soon, I have just got my craft room back after my children left home - again! - so I am getting organised and actually have somewhere to take pics without the cats getting in the frame:rotfl:
Last night I opened a jar of pickles that I made in October and felt quite impressed with myself - its not just the saving money but the sheer satisfaction of being O/s. I know you can buy cheap pickles but mine are big tasty pickles and only cost 2 pounds for 3 huge jars. Its all about picking up ideas and trying them. You save money and feel good too knowing you may be a couple of quid nearer to being debt freeClearing the junk to travel light

Next person to mention the C word (it's only April!) gets to have their mouth washed out with soap. Home-made, OS soap with natural ingredients, of course!!
Actually I don't blame anyone for thinking ahead to big spendy occasions, it's something I try to do when I get a spare minute. One life - your life - live it!0
