I'm studying and working at the moment but I have no real ambition. I want peace away from heavy consumerism and am disillusioned by stupid blame cultures inherent in so many workplaces.
I'm happier creating things - bread, meals, being frugal. If I could stop the world and get off at the moment I would. I need to figure out how to live on as little as I can and just work to earn that. I'd live in a caravan if I could, grow stuff etc. I look forward to picking up tips on here. Cheers!
You appear to have a number of really challenging ambitions.

Unfortunately I have not lost the habit of collecting useless info and quotes that I find inspirational:rotfl::rotfl:

..and another very apt quote from you. It takes real understanding of something to be able to explain it in a very simple way - so thats a good comment:D0 -

I need this thread!!
I feel like I am drowning atm as we have recently moved, boxes everywhere FAR too much stuff and I have 5 children under 11, 2 of which are not yet at school
I really need to simplify my life - I have great ideas but struggle to find the time to put them into practice so keep muddling through feeling like I am just fire fighting, not dealing with anything until it is urgent.
I have started reading this thread and will try to make a start somewhere. With it being the hols, my DH will be around more so now might be the time to get some much needed systems in place......

My goal is to lead a more simple life and return to an old-style way of living, a way of living more like my parents and grandparents had.
My aim is to grow as much of my own fruit and veg as possible. Make things myself for the home, such as bedding, cushions, decorations etc..Home cooking I also something I'd like to do more of.....
I have a full time job and a young son, so it is not always easy to find the time, but I am determined to give it a go...0 -
Me too:T
This year I will be growing a lot of my own vegetables and making my own clothes like I used to. I want to make my own rugs and quilts, cover the chairs with loose, washable covers and avoid man made fibres.
I want to bake and make bread and jam and chutney.
It not impossible and one small step at a time, I hope to be able to get some of that done this year.:)Sue
Do I need to eat it
Can I afford the calories:eek:
have I checked for a lower calorie version:T0 -
This is what I want to do and to some extent have started changing the way I do things, I have noticed for a start that I don't have as much rubbish for the bin that I used to.
I want to make a few homewares, especially so that we can have as much heat as possible in the winter if this year is anything to go by!
I've been making more homemade meals although I don't meal plan I have tried on several occasions but I would rather have stuff in the freezer and just be able to pick and it does work. I've been using my slow cooker more etc.
I have just moved house so going to get pots to grow my own herbs, potatoes etc.
I can't wait! Good luck to us all starting/continuing the old style journeyCredit Card: £796 Left/£900 October 2011 :eek:Store Card: £100 October 2011

I want to become less wasteful, I want to spend less money and put less food in the bin.
Today I will be making bread and butter pudding with some bread that's just a little too stale for sandwiches, I'm going to slice some bananas that are going a little brown into it too, not because they won't get eaten but just because I think it'll taste nice! I bought some condensed milk for the purpose yesterday and was pleased to see that you can buy a low fat version nowadays. I'm hoping if i put an extra egg in it might be solid enough to freeze some tooMake £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

I love the mixture of old and new that I'm managing to achieve now. I use modern technology ie internet for bargains, tips and learning and being inspired by peoples clever blogs, modern gadgets to free up my time and help me 'fit it all in.'
But the simplicity of baking and cooking from scratch. Knitting (and sometimes undoing and reknitting) and sewing garments and things for our home. Growing vegetables for the table and flowers for the vases is such a joy. AND READING! I'd forgotten the absolute pleasure of sitting reading in peace and quiet with no tv on.
I love trawling the charity shops for 'posh' china and love our mish mash of quality pieces for pence and ebay is a real delight for all and everything that we need without hitting the chainstores.
Maybe my life is not like my nans or even my mum's but its simple by modern day terms and I'm beginning to really relish it.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250
