  • To simplify my life I have also done away with ironing :shhh: Clothes that would need iroing come out of the washing machine, into the tumble dryer, out of the tumble dryer and in the wardrobe, either folded or hanging.

Thanks JG...i have a confession.....never really used spreadsheets!! But liking the idea as saves on paper everywhere for a start. xxx

Not everyone does... used graph paper!

My housework lists and laminated so we can cross off as it get's done.

My sons Homework list is laminated, so he knows what to do each night.

The freezer content list is on the spreadsheet, along with my menu planner and shopping lists!

My diary is great because I do a daily 'to do' list in there!

Oh and I note down 5 working days before a birthday 'post xxx card'
and on the day I have their birthday marked which reminds me to send them a too!

    Jx

I simplified my life by placing a regular order with the local milkman. I no longer have to worry about milk for my son's breakfast, drinking etc. It just turns up. It is more expensive than Asda, but how often do you go to a supermarket and just come out with milk? Well I can't seem to do it. I reckon it's actually saving me money.

I live opposite a shop and am quite good at only getting what i want but i know if i had to go into the supermarket i'd spend about 50 quid!!

CERIDWENWow that thread is fabulous but now i can't stop reading it!!:rotfl: I'm going to limit my computer time as well i think as i can waste hours looking at blogs/ebay/ MSE and various other stuff!

Thanks all for your tips...keep them coming. Much love. xx

  • I am always happy to share!

I have spreadsheets for a lot... but I LOVE my new one :D

Like I said 2 hours of work, and now I have a template to use year after year... and I am so much happier!

PM me if you want me to email you a copy, I honestly don't mind if it would help. Might be a bit daunting though, most likely best to do your own, you way!

Hiya, hope you don't mind me asking but could you explain about your spreadsheet thingy. I'm not too bad with computors but don't really know about this. I do think however think this sort of thing would help me no end. Sorry i don't post a lot but always, always read, and find everyones tips very helpful.

Thank you:D I think we covered a lot of ground in it.

It's big, but first i wrote everyone's name (Column A), then if they were male/female (Column B) (this is so I can bulk make cards by gender when I feel like it), then the age for that year (Column C), then the month (Column D), and then the date of the birthday (Column E).

Then Column F i type in ideas for Birthday Gifts, Column G specifies if they get a Birthday Card. Column H is ideas for Christmas Gifts.

I, J, K & L specifies Photo gifts, Calander gifts, baked goods and specifies Christmas Cards (by type for me!!)

    M specified Thank You cards.

then at the end an estimate of how many stamps I will need for that person.

I do each person on a line and fill it up.

Then you can filter by text within a column. So I can find out who has birthdays in Jan, or how many people turn 30 this year!

Let me see if I can take a picture of it... it might help :D

Gosh it's been a while hasn't it:D We've made further changes here- I've done a lot more making and have really enjoyed the process. I seem to have made several new friends who are also keen on having a go so have so far this year made Dorset buttons, Halloween decorations, scones [never worked for me before], a beaded bracelet and I'm mid way through making some felt beads. On every occasion I've shared resources with friends to keep costs down and we've now formed a craft group.
Personally, apart from reskilling we've made several different types of wine this year including mead, I've mastered bathbombs and have started making inroads into making some simple cleaners so I think overall I have improved the balance of my life although it remains a work in progress!
Unfortunately I have not lost the habit of collecting useless info and quotes that I find inspirational:rotfl::rotfl:
