Glad to hear all's well with OH's scans Mary.
I'd like to say my life is simplfied, but unfortunately as fast as I clear rooms/problems/ etc hubby's famliy present us with more carp, whether it be unwanted Christmas gifts or unwanted alcoholic family members. Oh well onwards & upwards.

Could be a possible New Year Resolution - to join a local LETS scheme if you've got one Hester? Some of my new "unwanteds" are all set to be "sold off" through a LETS scheme (hopefully - well I know some of it will definitely be wanted by other people:D) - so I'll be able to earn a few LETS Credits for it.:beer:0

Hello all -hope you all had a good christmas -we certainly did...........made such a change. Still, nice to be in our own home again............feet up, slob about, do as we like etc.
OH definitely looking better and seems so much better in himself...............mind you, the 'boffins' not done with him yet. Appt Jan 20th for more xrays and if this mass of 'stuff' is still the same it'll be off for another scan.............what then I know not.............but being positive I've booked a few days in Sussex end of April so he's got something to look forward to (and me).
Not heard of a LETS scheme ceridwen...........I've got a few 'unwanteds' but I shoved them in the spare room to put with other stuff for someones birthday or christmas.
OH bought me a super scrapbook kit so now I'm all set to do family scrapbooks for my two sons, the twins and for us............nice little winter project -along with books to read and re-arranging/clearing the clutter that always seems to build up around me.
New years resolutions -
clear clutter and keep it cleared,
be more organised, don't think about it -do it !
Don't loose touch with friends.............make that phone call-write that letter
Smile more =complain less
Keep Diary again and hope this one is filled with more positive writings
Hope you all have a Happy New Year with loads of positive stuff to look forward to -and thanks for the support and good wishes through what has been a very trying year;)I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Happy New Year folks - don't make any reolutions, never keep 'em, so no point
Will keep fingers crossed for 20th Jan scan Mary - good wishes for hubby, glad he's feeling bit better. That will ease your mind somewhat.
Ceridwen, thanks for posting about your diary idea - I kept one last year, best thing I ever did, got another one ready for this year ! :T
I simplified on presents this Christmas - one was bithday present to me - set of body lotion, hand cream etc - gave this to friend who was very pleased with travel sizes for her holidays. Another was book I saw in charity shop in summer, great condition, so bought it for old lady who likes cats - it was a book on cats, but the cats are all dressed up like humans - having dinner, causing chaos like naughty children - she loved it, even took it to show her friend Christmas Day - I was happy that they were happy IYSWIM !!!!When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

Happy christmas and new year to all"The purpose of Life is to spread and create Happiness" :j0

Hello all and Happy 2010..............diary now started and so far (hope I don't speak too soon) nothing other than the weather and what christmas presents I had, resolutions etc. to put in it.
Determined this year to de-clutter -yes, I know I've done it before and ended up all cluttered again but this year is to be one of those where I recycle what I can, in the form of boxes that are kicking around doing nothing that have a use (so far covered one with pretty paper and made some cards to put inside for MIL).......got a few more boxes similar size that I could do the same with and they'd make good little presents for someone.
Books need a sort out -again ! Had yet more books bought us for Christmas so need some space for them.
Already got five carrier bags to take to the charity shop - once the snow disappears I can fill up my shopping trolley foster daughter bought me and get them gone.
Decorations and tree came down today so thats that till next time (sure it took longer than putting them up!) and now I can see what rubbish is left behind........... Ooops............yes, quite a bit ! Young girl coming on Thursday to hoover for me and she's more than happy to help me have a sort out so hopefully by the weekend I'll know where I'm at with 'stuff'.
So..........hopefully this years resolutions will be stuck to...............time will tell......................lol:rotfl:I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Just wanted to say I feel dishearted with life today....watched Wartime kitchen and garden on Yesterday (Freeview) and life (despite the war) seemed so much simpler then...I hate consumerism and all the waste that happens today (I'm 38 by the way!)0

We all have our off days but a bit of perspective wouldn't go amiss - I very much doubt you'd like spending nights in air-raid shelters, being forced to grow your own because there was no other option, even in an emergency, dying from polio - the list goes on and on.
For the state of society today, just look at the tremendous efforts being directed to Haiti. Sure modern life isn't perfect, but for the vast majority of people it's better than ever.0 -

I do appreciate what you are saying, but the difference today is that we have a choice. We can go with the flow on consumerism, waste and all the other evils of modern life, or we can opt out - with the added bonus that no one is lobbing bombs at us.0 -
Thanks a bunch...i feel so much better now0
