Hi all (I know you're out there somewhere...........lol)
Kitchen has now been painted..........got the paint when we went to hospital for OH's CT scan.........name on the paint tin different but colour not too much of a change so it all covered nice and easy.
More money to pay out, plus got the bill from the plumber this morning for new mixer taps in the kitchen........£113  Oh it goes on and on............
OH now has appointment at hospital next Tuesday for endoscopy and biopy............be at the hospital about 3 hours from what I gather. He's had to have stronger pain killers this week but at leat that means we both get a good nights sleep.
I'm trying to carry on as normal.............thats the hardest bit really...........but I'm on top of Christmas and almost finished clearing my comp. room................:j
Just the desk thats the problem.............and knowing where to start with it. Still, rest of the house is reasonably tidy -helps with young girl coming every week................only room now really is my 'santas grotto' we call the spare room..................lol Needs a good clear out if cardboard boxes I don't need and thats just for a start.
So thats me in my little corner of the world at the minute.
Hope you're all ok and simplifying like mad..............if you've not already done it:jI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

All is well here. am winning the decluttering over the recluttering battle and am consciously only trying to bring in things which are going to be used or bring me pleasure. Yesterday I came in with 6 empty wine boxes from Mr T but they have greatly tidied up the storage for OH's empty bottles which are awaiting our hm vino- a frugal exercise!
Today my son will march in the Rememberance Day Parade with Scouts. I am trying to instil in him just how lucky we are to have peace in our country and not to take it for granted.
A short poem by Rudyard Kipling:
Common Form
1914-1918
If any question why we died,
Tell them, because our fathers lied

...and the only question about any particular war is just what the lie is and whose purpose it serves this time...
I guess it just boils down to ordinary people in the street making what links we can everywhere with each other and working together where we can - and then the lies are less likely to be believed by any of us.
MARY - hope your O.H. soon feels better. Take care.0 -
Hi Aril - glad your sticking to your guns with the re-cluttering side of things I'm trying to do much the same and not bringing anything into the house that isn't useful or just simply a 'must have' to give me pleasure.......we all need things like that I think.
Love the poem.............very meaningful -might have to print that out and put it in my fam.history folder among the photos of grandads brothers and mums brother.
ceridwen -I'll keep you up-dated on how things go with OH............thanks for the good wishesI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Hi Mary - good wishes for OH with scans & whatnot. Hope all ok.When you get to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on

pagan girl - thanks. He got through his endoscopy ok last week while I went shopping with foster daughter - bought myself a poncho from a charity shop, she bought all sorts of skirts and tops and it made a nice change for both of us.
Was hoping to find out something that day but not so......we'll get the result in about a week they said -that''ll make it around Tuesday/Wednesday this week.
Have to admit I'm not looking forward to it but we need to know what we're up against. Expect it'll mean appoint with consultant before we actually do know.
It's getting me organised though..............christmas parcels for posting are all wrapped up in brown paper ready for the post office -sent one off last week. The rest are all bagged or boxed up in a line on the spare bed ready for collection or for me to deliver them. I know OH won't be able to drive the distance to grandchildren and I get the feeling he'd rather I got a lift there and back the same day than have grandchildren come here. Sounds awful I know but he's not sure he can cope with them. Not so much the older ones but young grandson is at the 'terrible two' stage -though not terrible I have to add.........just at that age.
Young girl still coming to run the hoover round for me and mop the floor -anything that is a bit back bending she'll do. It's such a help.
Lot easier now I've sorted the filing cabinet out too........at least I can find stuff when I need to and it sparked me off to clearing out some more files than needed sorting.
Head in shame - other desk is still a bit full to say the least of 'stuff' that needs going somewhere else. Still, at least its all contained in one place as opposed to being spread all over the house...............most of it is christmas stuff -half made decorations for a start......
I'll keep you updated on what happens with OH as soon as I know.
Take care:oI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

Dragging this thread up to say
:santa2:'Happy Christmas' :xmassign:
to all those Simplifyers and hope their heads and homes are as clear as they can be to make room for the festive season.
Quick update on my home front:
OH's edoscopy/biopsy came back clear so he had to go for another one.........different sort.............that came back clear :T Relief all round. Seems the area of concern had shrunk so we were fingers crossed it would go on like that but no..........seems to have come to a stand still. 'Boffin' scratched his head after xray last week and says he'll see OH again in 5 weeks and if its still the same he'll have to have another scan ! Makes me wonder whether we've both reached the age/stage where our days out are destined to be visiting local hospitals........:rotfl:
Christmas pressies were organised well in advance -then came the snow............... Not a great lover of it -had too many falls (ouch !!) so tend to hibernate if possible.
Then there's the problem of delivering pressies to son and grandchildren. OH can't drive any distance but young girl who has a brilliant knack with our Henry has offered to take me to meet son at half way point to swap pressies tomorrow so hopefully they'll have them in time for Christmas,.
All this has made me think that next year I'll not make it such a chore and a worry about weather/delivery etc.
Scrapbooks for all and it'll make me actually get around to completing Family Tree books that are currently half done...............least they can be posted and no transportantion fretting.
We're off to foster daughters for Christmas day......be lovely..............nice and relaxing............just what we both need to end the year.
Pleased I kept a diary this year...........always good to refer back to so definitely doing the same for 2010.
Have a brilliant time over the holiday whatever you do and best wished for the coming year..........:TI would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
