They are simply quoting for a complete replacement sensor (possibly bearing too at those prices)

Look for an Auto Electrician (in fact any kind of electrician) who will be quite capable of carrying out a suitable repair on a cable break even on an exposed position..

I could understand it if the break to too close to the sensor housing but if it is half way down the cable, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

I changed the front Bearing on a Saab which contained the Sensor. The entire Hub/Bearing unit complete with Sensor was £65 for the part.

My only problem, the part needed is only main dealer supplied, the garage I went to first tried to get a non Ford part but they don't come for the sensors, safety I guess.

The cable break is shorter than thought, the garage got the car up on ramps and it appears the cable has been ripped from the sensor itself, so looks like a complete replacement job.
What gets me is how can they ask £140 jsut for the sensor.
Contacted a breakers yard, they have a sensor but been told its only a 50/50 % chance of it working by a garage as they get damaged taking them out and many get stuck on the bearing and have to be broken off:confused:

Any advice where I can get the part cheaper, looked on Ebay, have one but again second hand so risking having it changed and not working
  • if the wires cant be repaired then i doubt you have much choice. you either take the risk on the second hand part, then possibly having to do it again with the new part,or just do it with the new part in the first place.

Do you know the part number (or model, year, spec etc). It would help someone search one out
