Shared house problems ...

I suggest you leave a note back saying "please be aware that I take no notice of annonymous notes. I am however willing to discuss any issues in person as this is more likely to lead a suitable solution for all".. then leave the note in a prominant place and wait for them to broach you, and in the meantime do nothing!
Anonymous notes are worthless in my opinion, and if you act upon an anonymous note then you show yourself to be a pushover. Communication is the key to shared houses, and anonymous notes do not form part of effective communication, they are cowardly. If you take notice of this one, what will the next one say? and the next? etc etc0 -

Part of the process of moving into a new place?? Coming from someone who has lived in 9 different towns/cities in 17 different properties in the last 10 years, I have NEVER left anyone an anonymous note, nor has anyone left me one.
I had an issue with one housemate who complained about my tv noise after 10pm (paper thing walls) and asked me to turn it down (to the point I could hardly hear it), so after playing her a recording of her (fat hairy rugby playing) boyfriend snoring something chronic and keeping me awake, we called a truce and both used earplugs!
I had another issue with a psychotic housemate who would scream at me for not hovering up a piece of fluff on the carpet. She also refused to pay her share of council tax, so I moved out.
A word of advice - when moving into a new property, keep all your stuff in your room at first, and make sure you're nothing but the perfect housemate for the first couple of months. Then, when you know people better, you could if you could perhaps put bookshelf in hallway etc... If you take over the house from day one, it won't go down well!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
God I hated sharing. I lived with a maniac who read my diary, went through my clothes and ended up making a move on my boyfriend!! I would have been angry but I just pitied her so much and swiftly packed my bags and got the hell out of there. In another houseshare I found out my housemate was working as a prostitute!! Sharing is with strangers is scary!!
I suggest you move but this time get a bigger room and move in to a new houseshare so the housemates aren't already stuck in their ways and the hopefully you won't feel like an outcast.0 -
Don't mean to sound horrible but is the reason they left a note because they may feel you're unapproachable?A blonde... cleverly disguised as a Brunette.......;)0

hi everyone,
I've never been called unapproachable before to be honest ... in fact I am often teased at work/uni for being "soft" and a pushover...
One particular housemate seems to have a "thing" for leaving notes and complaining a lot - she was going on about people not washing up the other day, when I looked at the side of the sink the "problem" was one cup and two plates (they didnt even have food scapings on!). She has lived here for 4 years and I think she regards it as Her house much more than i've experienced in the past.
I've found from moving around a lot and from being there when new tenants move in that people dont like change, especially when its not instigated by them. I dont feel like I want to do anything about the things they've complained about (apart from moving my box of junk) as these demands could well be never ending (based on past experience and the tone of the note) according to how "house girl" thinks I should ...
I agree the lounge is not a laundry but neigher is it a gym, nor a dumping ground for their spare items such as a TV, set top box and loads of other junk..... especially when THEY put their laundry on the radiators (including their underwear!!).
As I have said the hallway is wide enough to accomodate and it is only a temporary measure as the LL mentioned when I visited that the room could accomodate a desk ... he never said so but the only realistic way to do that would be to move the second wardrobe. I would be willing to do that myself (with a friend) as long as I had spoken to the LL first.
I spoke to a friend today and I think I will likely leave it for now and if things dont settle then I will move...
I'm due to do some washing soon and I cant decide whether to court a possible confrontation and put my airer up as normal or what ... my friend thinks I should tell them to stick it as I live here now and there's give on take on both sides (I dont want to go into loads of detail but I'm doing my bit where I can...).

I have to ask, what's a 'maiden' ?0

I had a look at Wikipedia:Maiden may also be:
- Maiden (beheading), a beheading device used for capital punishment (so called because somewhat similar to a clothes maiden used for drying wet clothing)
- Iron Maiden, a heavy metal band
- Iron maiden (torture device), a torture device
- Crystal Maiden, and archaeological object
- Rozen Maiden, manga and anime
Clothes maiden I guess.
