Have just read your post from begining,was kind of like reading my lifestory, Im now BR and with a lovley chap, things might look kinda bleak at the moment but post BR lifes ok, yes I have no spare cash but I have the lovley silence of no phones ringing and the letterbox contains mostly junkmail.
OH and I are now twittering about doing his BR forms, and he has the calls etc and he nearly signed an IVA which would have failed and we would be following your route.
This forum is a godsend and I wish you well, I like reading your posts, they echo all my worries etc but we will survive and move forward.

I am pleased your OH has not taken on an IVA if it would have failed, as it just prolongs the agony, I did think it was all over but none of us have crystal balls that will let us into what the future 5 years can bring. IVAs are right for some people, but they were not right for me, not with no house or assets, but hey ho thats the way it goes.

Well another day another diamond, or stone, well it seems a stone. Phone rings and chap says Mrs which I AINT! XYZ there, I said who is calling he said NCO Europe, ME, who are you, are you Mrs XYZ no she is not here, this is a financial matter, ME, okay in connection with, him, I cannot discuss with any one but Mrs XYZ.. okie dokie give me a number, he did and a reference. The reference given does not match any of the acc number issued on the IVA statement!

So they have already started, thought it would take a bit longer than this, so skates on to get things under way now. Chappie gave me number to call back, I said it is a free call he said yes.. are 0870 numbers FREE, if not they can get lost I will not call them back?

Okay advice please if I call back what do I say, I have a feeling I do not say I am going to go BR is that correct? all replies appreciated.

This is like going back 4 years, I guess the phone will ring off the hook now, have advised 14 year old I am NOT at home unless it is someone we know! At least he understands now, at 10 he did not. And he is a lovely kid full of fun energy, naughtiness but above all love. I guess I could get him to say I have done a runner, I am only kidding :rotfl:

When i started to get calls i told my girls to ring,put the phone down then call straight back.That way i knew it was them. The rest i just dialed 1471 and if it was family rang back and said i was in the garden,bath,kitchen ect

0870 numbers are not free and unless i am mistaken i think they are the higher rate,not sure if they are premium or not though.

Its funny actually as when i went through bc i got OH to answer the phone and say i was not in,now i answer the phone and say OH is not in.lol

Try not to let the continual ringing get to you,just keep at the back of your mind that it will soon be over. D

Thanks Dalip it was so stressful in late 2004 early 2005, it was constantly ringing, and some were very nasty as well and rude. But back then I had no knowledge of what the hell I was doing or going to do either. My best friend who recommended me to come here in June was the one who said get to the CAB NOW back then.

On both counts she was right, and I can only thank her for her friendship over many years and her support, and she has posted on here bless her.

My son is well geared up to what to say now.. and we get so many of those calls trying to sell us something and have had for ages and he tells them where to go.. politely, his stance is, you want my time are you paying for it and hangs up! Lucky like me he has a deep voice so sounds much older than his years.

I will not tell any of them anything, or even say I am ME...

Okay tired today but that I think is the ME playing up it does not like stress much and only just getting over this virus, but I am pleased with myself, I sent and email to IVA people for information on who the creditors were as they are now owned by some other company barring two of them. Also asked for any other docs on my file. Then I phoned the court and asked how long is the waiting list right now... if I booked today it would be 13 October, but I cannot book til I have the information I need, as I do not want to have to cancel it, that would not look very good.

BUT, downside is the guy said after the hearing with the judge I get to go to a private room for the OR call, which is what someone in work had told me, but the someone in work said that it was to go through a few things and then you get another call, well this nice guy at the court said it is to go through a few things and arrange a face to face meeting, I nearly wet myself.. but hey ho silver lining, maybe face to face would be better for me as long as I have printed on my PALMS DO NOT WAFFLE....

I did face to face at the IVA meeting of creditors, and fully expected them to turn up, quaking in my boots I was... but I know I felt determined at the time not to be intimidated and none of them showed up, which was a relief, at least with this I know I am going to face ONE person not maybe 7 creditors into the bargain.

Now to sort out all paperwork, as I guess if this is a face to face I will need things with me, can anyone PLEASE tell me what they had to take with them, so I can sort it all out.

I am pretty sure i have read on here that they sometimes do a face to face because of a failed IVA,i am sure i remember somone saying the OR was more interested in why the IVA failed than their debts.

I had to go into a private room to talk to my OR over the phone on my day at court. He basically asked me if there was anything urgent i needed him to sort out, what to tell my creditors,confirmed my bank accounts, then said he would contact me within 14 days to arrange an interview.

No matter what office all bc/OR's ect are different. So just because that person had a face to face does not mean you will.Just wait and see what happens and take one step at a time. Dxxx

A bit late to your thread, but I just wanted to add my support and also say how much stronger you're sounding now since you were when you first started posting

I know you've been told already, but I don't think it hurts to say it again (;) ) please do NOT worry about not having all the info. for the OR. You can only give him/her what you've got and trust me....... they can find out anything they need to that you haven't been able to give them.

Re the phones calls - we mainly adopted the "ignore the phone" route there (helped by having caller display) but one company were sooooooo persistant that in the end H told them that I'd left him and he didn't know where I was and that I wasn't coming back. It worked - they stopped ringing after that :rotfl:

Thanks Scarlett, this place is a life saver and you can even have a laugh and giggle here is it not all doom and gloom.. breadmakers spring to mine eh Dalip!! and dogs...

I will tell my son to say MY MOTHER ran away... and I am stuck with my moaning grandma can you take her.. and put the phone down.. ha ha... we have to laugh if not we would cut our throats..

You know, it troubles me no end people commit suicide due to the harrassment of some of these moron debt collectors... god I wonder if they know the impact they have.. of course they do which is why they adopt them.. need a HATE YOU smilie here.:mad:

Dalip on the court, a person in work not in an IVA went BR in my court, he said no face to face.. he went BR in June.. maybe they were busy.

When I rang the court I asked what the wait was, what happened etc.. nice young man told me clerk to check docs, affidavit, payment, judge, out and then a phone call from the OR, I said okay then what, he said you will be asked about things, advised on things depending on ORs time, and then another appointment, I said what a phone one at home, he said NO right now all appts with OR after court are face to face that is the way they are working right now. I assume this young man knew what he was talking about, he certainly seemed to and was very sweet on the phone to me.

I never mentioned my name or the IVA so Dalip I think my court and the OR work in the way he said and I will get a face to face, so now I need to know who if anyone here has had one and what do I need to take with me.... long shot to set my racing heart to rest today.

Dalip if when I get there they are more worried about why it failed I have all the letters I need to prove I was off work sick for a year, and that I can now only work 25 hours and even that is under question by the occupational health doc as he thinks it is proving too much.. but I am fighting that.. for ME not for anyone else. I need to work, if I stay at home I will just become some depressive lump... but my days of work may be altered but I wont know that til end of this month.. and would only drop my hours by ONE hour.


Scarlett I am stronger this site has made me stronger, mind you in my bed each night it does not stop the scenarios of what if the OR asks this.. and nightmares of men in long black clokes coming to get me.. ha ha...not funny but if you dont laugh you will cry.. and crying is not me.....:rotfl:
