Hi Does anyone have information on where to apply for the grant announced by Gordon and what can you get grants for, IE does it include replacement double glazing

Had a recent conversation with a British Gas sales guy who has quoted for my mother's boiler replacement. He said that "it could take months" to sort out the mecanics of this scheme, which has been 'imposed' on the energy suppilers without much consultation.

For them, I guess it is better than the threatened windfall tax, and for this government it means that the energy companies will have to spend their shareholder's money instead of yours and mine.

Don't hold your breath for double glazing - none of the current schemes include this as far as I know. The emphasis is on cavity wall and loft insulation, and efficient boilers and controls.

Double glazing is just about the least cost effective methods of insulation available.

Windfall tax, social tariffs and insulation from the Utility companies will all be paid for by the customers in the end, and not the shareholders.

The Utility company shares have performed quite well during this period of turmoil in the Markets.
