The term "1st adult passport" causes great confusion, it should be renamed 1st EVER passport for a person aged 16 or over. As your daughter already has a passport it will be treated as a renewal, even though it is as an adult. The only possible snag is, if she has changed appearance drastically the pics MAY have to be countersigned.

When we were going away last year and daughter needed her " first adult passport" we had a lot of fun, we were tld we needed to prove her identitiy and show she was entitled to a passport, as I had remarried and name different easiest way was get a copy of her fathers birth certificate and passort number. Not easy as we had not spoken in 10 years lol After a lot of hassle turned out as she already had a passport it was classed as a "renewal" and she had only to get certified photos as her old ones where 5 years old. We made appointment , went to passport office, paid extra and had new passport in a day or two.

Ring passport office tomorrow and check , this is probally not calssed as " first adult passport" as she has already had one in her own name.

I am pretty sure that she can arrange an on the day passport and interview at a passport office, it cost money and you have call and book an appointment.

I think this is the best advice - ring them up (maybe with a bit of a sob story to get things moving quickly!). We've had to go and get passports from the official offices a few times! I don't know where you live but there's one in Liverpool.... I'm sure the adviceline will be able to help.
  • This happened to me (I looked at my passport and found out i had expired the night before I was due to fly to Frankfurt to watch England in the world cup) Luckily I went to the passport office at London Victoria ready for opening time fri morning (had to book an 'apointment', then waited for about 6-7 hours and got my passport, dashed to the airport and made my 4.30pm flight with 10 mins to spare!
