the symbol is now no longer there.
i am doing a scan with adaware at the moment. it is at 1hr 15mins and has been stuck on object 106010 for the past hour. according to the two bars the section is finished and the overall scan is half way through. it says it has found 18 infections but i know they could be just something like cookies. the thing is should it be stuck on object 106010 for so long?0 -
Probably best just to let the anti virus keep running .
If you are going to change your anti-virus software soon then best leave things as they are .
I still use XP so not to familiar with Vista .
I use Kaspersky and it is not so overpowering as Norton ,But I think everyone has an opinion on what is the best anti-virus software .
Most give a free 1 month trial ...I would do that with a couple just to see if anyof them cause issues or are hard to get around .0 -
how long should i give it before i assume adaware has crashed?0

press CTRL ALT and DELETE and see if the application is "running" or "not Responding"
It should be ticking over and the files it displaying should change 1hr to scan a file seems excessive "in my opinion"."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

the task manager says it is running. could it just be the pc running very slow? it says 2/3 of the memory is being used and only 3 to 4% of the processor. so i cant see it being the pc running slowly. should i try turning the net off to see if it speeds up.0

no the net wont make no difference.
Did you do an adaware update before running a scan to make sure your definitions were up to date?
If you think its crashed cancel it in the ctr alt delete, and start again."Well, that sounds like a pretty good deal. But I think I got a better one. How about I give you the finger, and you give me my phone call"

i decided to end task. there was actually nothing named in the current path. when i ended task it said something about a hang problem. anyway i restarted the pc and started again. it went through ok this time. the only issue was a privacy issue called mru which i remember being told was nothing to worry about.
edit.
i did update first.0 -
