Why launch a tariff onto the public market if you then restrict the number of people taking it up? The energy industry is a weird one, isn't it? For fear of falling foul of the ASA, shouldn't it be called Extra Saver Version 8 Limited Edition? :rotfl:Call me Carmine....
HAVE YOU SEEN QUENTIN'S CASHBACK CARD??0 -
Probably a sign it is to be increased?0

i dont think it is being increased but i do know that version 9 is due to come out this week.
atm i dont have any more details but as soon as i find out anything i'll post it.0 -
just to let everyone know that version 9 came out today.
if you didnt get onto v8 which had all the old rates before the price increase then you have lost out.
v9 is at the new current rates which means only the online discount you get makes it cheaper than current standard prices.0 -
I'm beginning to regret signing up with this bunch. I only switched from EDF less than a year ago through Energyhelpline. I've just had a letter from them giving the increased prices, which I was expecting, but in the middle of the letter is the bombshell "Your EnergyOnline Extra Saver discount has now been removed" What????? That was a 22% discount and was the reason I switched in the first place! It goes on to say "... but you'll continue to receive a discount for managing your account online." On the back of the letter I see that this discount is 2%. Gee, thanks. So I have been stung with a massive price increase. I find their tariffs confusing. I appear to be on EnergyOnline Extra Saver E7 whatever that is. Various other tariffs are available to me but they all seem to be the same price or higher. Oh yes, there's another killer in the letter: "In fact, customers in your region, paying for electricity and gas by cash or cheque, will pay less with us than with British Gas or EDF Energy". So they are even admitting that BG and EDF are cheaper if paying by Direct Debit, which I am!
I don't know whether it's worth phoning them up and threatening to leave, like you do with insurance companies and broadband, but otherwise it's back off to Energyhelpline I think.2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0 -

This is disgraceful. So not only have they increased your tarrif, but have stopped your 22% discount !!
Phone them to clarify as this seems outrageous. I am on Energy Saver Version 8 and receive a 15% discount.0 -

Well I've just phoned them (on 01268 652100, I'm blowed if I'm paying for an 0845 call!) and the nice lady agreed with me that it was a rotten deal and advised me to shop around! There was no possibility of any special discount to retain my custom. Off to switch again then (and hopefully another cashback into the bargain - is there a limit to how many times these people will pay out?)2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0

The Energy Online discount is only vaild to a date shown on your T&C, the discount is then at the discresion of Eon when they can remove it.
My Online extra saver 5 was until at least 1 April 2009. I have recently switched to the online saver V8 and this discount is until at least Nov 2009.
Maybe your V7 has reached the vaild discount date and they have decided to remove it as per their T&C.0 -

- we will transfer you to another online product if it is available, or standard product if it is not.
- we will provide you with a new set of Terms and Conditions (which they haven't)."
Now I'm interested in this whole 14-day switch lark and being able to keep the old prices as long as I tell them I'm switching and it happens within 6 weeks. Sounds too good to be true - DAK what I actually have to do to make it happen? Is it automatic if I initiate a switch to another supplier?
Also, I've just noticed that they have sent me a letter in the middle of September advising me of increased prices from 22 August!2kWp Solar PV - 10*200W Kioto, SMA Sunny Boy 2000HF, SSE facing, some shading in winter, 37° pitch, installed Jun-2011, inverter replaced Sep-2017 AND Feb-2022.0
