Buying a Car Parking Space - Manchester

Precisely! After all, you can't live in the centre unless there are other people living further out.
I had to read that twice to understand it. It's been a long weekend!
Whilst my first choice would always be to live in a city centre, I would be nice and happy in a little village somewhere, or a lovely old terrace house. It's the image of me living in surburbia that makes me come out in a cold sweat. Horses for courses though.0 -
In Manchester City Centre - YES - STAY AWAY! A work colleague recently sold his for 20K less than he bought it and is now renting before he lost anymore.
Rent in Manchester - Not buy - there is an over supply of apartments in the city centre. And especially if they are the ones right next to Oxford Road Station - If you decide to move and put it up for sale and I was a buyer i'd be worried about living so close the the railway line with the noise.
You're right, there are new flats EVERYWHERE in Manchester. We tend to walk out and about for dinner, drinks etc. and I'll suddenly say to the missus: "Was that massive block of steel and glass there last week?" Her: "Not sure. Probably not". We honestly have no idea if certain blocks have been up a week or a year, you just can't keep up.
I think the situation would be slightly better if these developments were architecturally stunning or had something that really gave them the wow factor. But they all seem identical, especially inside. And souless. I will obviously feel for people financially impacted by falling house prices, but one real positive may be that developers, builders and architects have to think carefully about the design and build of their developments as people have had their fingers burnt and won't buy any old bit of tat. Or am I being optomistic?!
There are some nice developments in Manchester I think, but mainly old buildings. I think the apartments in Worsley Mill are nice and some of the older buildings around the gay village that have been converted have nice pads. Wouldn't want to pay for them mind, but would be fun to rent for a year or two.0 -
£80 a year is a very good price considering your location.... I always thought London was supposed to be the expensive city - looks like I was wrong and it's Manchester!!
that's only if you are a resident, and you have to prove it, tediously, every year.
Cash and flash parking is, I think, £6 an hour....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
Hi all. I hope I can get some sound advise on this forum.
I bought my flat in 2001 with an "allocated" parking space which the Lease describes as being "clearly defined". This means that in the Lease it shows the location of my parking space. Over the last 7 years, this parking space has never been white lined for my sole use and the gates to the development has a key code which enables anyone (including neighbours friends etc) to enter the parking area and park free of charge.
I have raised this matter with several Management Agents that have controlled this development over the years but to date, the matter remain un resolved. I have recently put the Landlords (those that I pay Ground rent to) on notice that unless the fee of £18,000 be paid within 14 days, I will sue them through the HMCS on line system. Have I acted correctly or do I need to sue someone else and in adifferent way?
Please someone help as if I wish to seel the property, a good conveyance lawyer will pick up on this outstanding matter!!!
Thanks
