  • Hi, I don't think it is possible to claim back the VAT from second hand cars - not sure if you even pay VAT on anything second hand?? I certainly didn't give anything to the tax man when I sold my car privately and have never heard you have to. Just bought myself a new car as the cost of converting all the lights was more or less the same as the value of my old car! Hope this helps.

We're thinking of buying a new car. Have had a look at a few websites via the forces discount directory site.

Can anyone recommend a company? Is it ok to still haggle to price down?

What cars and prices has everyone paid?

yes haggling is good for the majority of the companies out in the Tax free market, EMC, SEnnegal cars ForcesCars but generally you have to haggle as they have a salesman to retain margins,
There is a few alternatives which are straight to the point on price Intabrokerscars is one...hope this helps

Just a quick question - is there any way to claim back the VAT on a second hand car purchased over here but then taken over to BFG?

Anyone throw any light on this?

    Cheers
No only on new try www.intabrokerscars.com taxfree agents they are associated with like minded people from customs to answer any more vat questions and particulars with bringing new , used cars in out of international countries.:T
  • I know this is slightly different but hope it helps someone.

I bought a BFG tax free car and advertised it on www ssperformancesales co uk, you can search them on google using ssperformancesales. It stayed on the website for a year and towards the end on the mandatory year of owning the car I started to get calls and emails from interested private and trade buyers.

Anyway, basically I sold the vehicle for £1700 more :T than what was offered in part exchange. I know its a little bit more hassle than part exchanging but for £1700 it was well worth it.

Advertising it was free the last time I checked and the guys there are more than willing to help with any extras you want in the advertisement.

I would highly recommend them. Please let me know how you all get on.
