Ravenheat boiler, no pilot light

I have a Ravenheat 820/20T boiler, the pilot light went out so I called a plumber, he got it going again by bridging the overheat cut off stat with a piece of wire and left that in, he said he would be back with a new part (he didn't say which part).
He never got in touch again so as the boiler was working I left it. Couple of weeks ago I went away so I turned the boiler off. I can't get it to relight now, someone suggested a new thermocouple so I bought one which also came with an overheat cut off stat and fitted it but no joy. The pilot still won't stay on, it lights when the button is pressed but will not stay on when the button is released. Any ideas please?

I have one of these boilers and find the pilot light a !!!!!! to relight. How long are you pressing the button in for ? I keep the button pressed in for a minimum of 60 seconds (seems a lot longer while you're doing it) while the ignition clicks away and the pilot is lit.0

Check all your connections again. The voltage generated by the TC is tiny and so any duff connections will render it inoperative. Check the OH stat for continuity with a test meter.0

Hi
i have a ravenheat boiler, the problem with the boiler is when you open the hot water tap the boiler fan starts and the ignition start to click, but the pilot lite doesn't come on and the flame lite come on, this happens when opening the hot water tap and also when you put the central heaters on.
could someone please help me0 -
Make sure the TC tip is being heated by the pilot light and is glowing red before you release the pilot button.Look after the pennies and the pounds will spend themselves0

If the guy bypassed the high limit stat(a safety feature) then he shouldn't be working in peoples houses on boilers anyway0
