Free but need to pay £4.95 postage if you are a BG customer and your account details

    The form is below

    http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2008/09_03/british_gas.pdf

Wonder if you can claim two if you have a dual fuel you have two account numbers?
  • there was no mention of paying for postage if british gas customer in the paper. and postage was £2.99 if collecting tokens. looks like they got differnet deal on net. both very good

i should have picked up 2 free papers at the gym for dual fuel.
  • You still have to send in the tokens if over 70 or on income related benefits! No where in the terms and conditions does it say you are exempt from this if over 70 or on income related benefits! There is just a box on the form to tick if you are! My guess is that British Gas want to collect this info so they can start getting people signed up for cheap energy saving messures.

I have phoned to get the code to put on the application form, then phoned back as my mum wants one, and left her details. I was given exactly the same code!!! Anyone else have this happen? Cost me 30p for each call!!
    MFW 2011 challenge - Aim: Overpay £414.26 a month/£5,000 a year. Overpayment Total to date: £414.26:jMortgage start 28/9/07 £46,217.00 :TMortgage balance as of 25/05/11 £24,490.58 :T
Interest saved as of 25/05/11: £2,849.84 Projected term reduction as of 25/05/11: 9 years 11 months
  • The offer is for a free (p&p £2.92 payable) energy saving monitor. Exactly the same as this but with British Gas written on it - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Owl-CM113-Wireless-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B000XT1RM8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221306877&sr=8-2. You just need to phone a 0904 number to get a code to put on the application form and collect 8 differently dated tokens which are printed for next 2 weeks. If, however, you are a British Gas customer, you can claim this monitor plus a standby saver (worth £19.99). You still need to collect the 8 tokens but the p&p charge is £4.99. There is no mention though of you having to call the 0904 number to get a code  but you do have to put you British Gas customer number on the form. There is also a box to tick at the bottom of the form if you are over 70 or on income related benefits (presumably to contact you later!) Interestingly enough, they do not ask for your phone number on the form, so if you are ex directory they will not be able to hound you with phone calls! Also, there is no box to tick to 'opt out' of any further correspondance!!

Plus if you are a British Gas customer - you can also receive a British Gas Standby Saver, worth £19.99, absolutely free - we have 60,000 to giveaway.
The British Gas Standby Saver is a great way to help save money, energy and the environment by cutting down on wasted electricity when appliances are left on standby.

To claim yours, simply tick the relevant box and fill in your account number on the Order Form and enclose a cheque for £4.99 to cover postage (this amount covers postage for the Energy Saving Monitor also). You will automatically be sent your free British Gas Standby Saver along with your electronic Energy Saving Monitor.

  • Anyone any ideas how this actually works? How does the unit know how much electricity is being used?

  • You clip a device to the cable above your electricity meter and this sends signals to the wireless monitor, I`ve been looking for one of these and can't see it for less then £35

    Here's Amazon's one http://www.amazon.co.uk/Owl-CM113-Wireless-Electricity-Monitor/dp/B000XT1RM8/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1221316600&sr=8-2

I applied for a standby saver advertised in the Daily Express, on 22nd July, and have still not received it!
  • Can anyone say what the code is as 0904 numbers are blocked on my home phone. Sorry to ask if its not allowed to post codes on this forum.

Ok,I managed to get my son to do it, as I realised that you have to register at the same time.

You have to ring up and leave your details to be given your own unique code.

I have just done so and the automated service gave me a 5 digit number to write on the form. It looks like it is a sequence number and, as my number is greater than 63,000 and there are only 100,000 monitors to give away, give them a ring quick to reserve yours and avoid being disappointed.
