I'm not an RBSGroup customer, and have noted this additional reason to stay well clear of them:p

  • I've only had to do 3 of these in the past few years - Not sure if this was correct but this is how it happend:

Halifax (x1) - Had to go into Branch as I was told it could not be done via Telephone Banking.. Spoke with Customer Services, tapped a few keys and was done. Told it would be back in my account the next Morning as this happens overnight. It was back in my account the next Morning

NatWest (x2) - Called Telephone Banking each time and took around a minute to complete. Said it happens overnight and it would be back in my account the next Morning. Again, it was in my account by the Morning.

I was happy with that - I got my money back.. If it should work like that though is another matter but it seems the norm.

In theory RBS group sytems would allow a refund to be processed immediately but under the current process they don't.
  • Hey all,

In direct debit mistakes, if a company DD's the wrong (larger) amount, and you get a refund, do they then have the right to demand the correct amount of money?
