It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.
  • Good luck Linda! x

  • Spud,

Right, this is just my opinion ok so you know ignore it etc.

I would save up an emergency fund - say five hundred - thousand pounds?(!) to cover washing machines, cars, alien abduction .

Then I would save enough money in fact more then enough to pay off one debt and add some to the other repayments?

then I would leave the CCCS and go alone. I think stay with them for as long as you can until you are 90% positive your jobs are secure you have an ok mortgage deal and savings to back you? (God how unrealistic does that sound! perfect world much?)

Hope that doesn't sound rude or anything, I don't really know what your situation is so i am just going by mine! and it would drive me nuts.

I mean I have 300 quid in case of emergencies and even tho I loathe and detest my job with a firey passion I decided to stick to it for the time being until my CC card has gone. In fact I may have to use that emergency money.....hmmm. rude words. lots of rude words.

do you ever just suddenly do random debt sums in your head? and then realise this month is screwed. ARGghhhhh

    Thanks Buffy.

Sounds dead easy in theory doesnt it.

DH's job is secure, I've been on a temporary contract for 2 years that gets renewed. Neither of us are on good wages, but we are both happy where we are, which I think is important.

We do keep trying to save money for contingencies, but stuff keeps happening and the money gets used. It's currently all gone on a vet bill, but luckily we will get most of that back pretty soon thanks to the pet insurance. As was said earlier, at least we havent had to go into debt to pay for anything, we had the money there.

When the cheque comes from the insurance, we will put it back in the savings straight away. Saying that, we need a new bed, but we're thinking of making do with a decent air bed for now lol

  • did some hasty online banking so this month isn't screwed. The thing is Spud is that you have saved money for contingencies, and contingencies have come up, and you can'tsleep on an air bed, you need a real bed, so you know you have the money for it so get a bed.

its very hard isn't it? I keep saying but it really is. I know I made mistakes and I know what to do in the future to avoid them but I still have to sit here month by month paying and it is so slow.

I hope my ramblings help you come to a conclusion!

Glad your month isnt as bad as you first thought.

We havent enough saved for a decent proper bed. We would be fine sleeping on an air bed, they're really comfortable and posh nowadays. Besides, I'm quite looking forward to the 'camping' effect on our relationship !!!

We've already got £60 in vouchers that we could use, so it wouldnt cost us that much.
