Email Messages blocked!!

How can I prevent AVG on my new computer from blocking my incoming messages? Outgoing are ok.

I had to have new Email Address as new computer and Google said they had no Account in my name i.e Email Address and Password although I had used this for 4 years. Rang Talk Talk to set up Email on Outlook Express with talk talk mail. Every time I tried to send I was told Password rejected so I called them back. They tried to reset at their end but incoming messages still not working so they said it must be the firewall. I do not know how to correct this as I am not very technical.

goto your account section in outlook express highlight your email account (should be the only one there)

Select properties
Select the Servers tab
At the bottom check the checkbox that says "My Server requires authentication" under the outgoing mail server.
Click the settings button next to it.
Select the "use same settings as my incoming mail server
OK and apply

You can now send and receive.

Talk Talk should have told you that.

So you HAVE a googlemail email account? Or have I missread that....?

hmm im a bit confused now, just re read your post prior to mine, you said it was outgoing mail that was failing but then said incoming mail was failing. Can you confirm which of the Talk Talk mail are not working (Sending or Receiving)

I have followed instructions exactly but each time I try to receive, I keep getting the Login page and a message saying my password has been rejected

Outgoing working but incoming not working so when I click on send and receive error message and login request

ok instead of using the same settings as incoming msgs, manual type in the username and password.

But if you can send you should receive, and it probably could be your firewall, what firewall are you using? just the hardware one on the router or have you got windows firewall running (if you have windows firewall running (or any other software firewall) disable it for now and see if thats stopping you receiving emails)

Followed latest instructions but same problem. AVG how do I disable it?

TOOLS
ADVANCED SETTINGS
E MAIL SCANNER
UNTICK ~ 'check incoming email' AND 'check outgoing email'
then click APPLY then OK
